Did a screen at Le Mans too, Autoglass to the rescue. The insurance company would not pay for the Gen screen so I just took what they offered, fit and finish perfect.

Its still Pilkington but just does not have the Maserati logo on it...cant really be bothered to push for a gen one, especially as Ill probably smash it again soon anyway....hey, Athol?

I've enquired about that ClearPlex stuff to see what it costs. If it's not silly money, I'll get it done to try to help avoid this in the future!

My windscreen cracked I informed my insurance company the AA they ordered new screen from Italy four weeks later screen arrived Auto glass picked up screen from main dealer in Brum and fitted screen at my home total cost to me £70 wind screen cover did not affect no claims bonus
On renewal AA insurance premium went up £150 total cost £430 I changed over to Churchill and got a comprehensive policy for £290
So for my Mas 4.2 Gt I saved big time on the screen and as the AA was being greedy I saved on my new Insurance policy
an extra £140 towards my Bar bill cant be bad

For the 2nd year in a row, Autoglass have just shown up with a Gransport windscreen.

And the wait goes on. Again.

I dont rate them either..
Wait for them to turn up with the wrong glass, then wait for them to book you another place...Meanwhile your vehicle is without glazing for two weeks - rubbish...!

Is there a fundamental issue with GT windscreens cracking?

It seems that way. But why?
Mine was a chip not a crack - can’t be avoided if you drive a car in the road. My new XJ picked up a chip within the first 500 miles

The fundamental issue was a stone flicked up. Some you get away with, some cause a chip, others a crack like mine. I might have some video of it hitting.

I got a quote for Clearplex film. It came back at a price which is around three new windscreens and I have to go to Cambridge. At least Gavin comes to me.

The fundamental issue may have been the loon in the qp that was in front....sorry Martin
Don't worry about it. It could have happened anytime on those roads. either by a vehicle we overtook or a massive tree carrying HGV coming the other way. All flicked up stones, it's luck of the draw. A windscreen is replaceable. Cheaper than a paint job
