heated seat not working

found the passenage heated seat isn't working the electric movement of the seat works.

i've pulled the plug on the seat for 10sec and still same issue

found the passenaged heated seat is relay B and fuse 3 (7.5a - seems low), both seem OK, swapped with drivers side as heated seat works - relay A and fuse 4 - same issue. unless the info I had is wrong, then I've just swapped relay and fuses for something else

it seems to be the seat at fault but before I take it to the garage wanted to check in with the SM knowledge base ;)

If you have swapped out the control, then I fear your assumption is correct. It could just be a wayward connection, but strip down would appear the next logical step.

thanks - I've just spoken to Colchester who said if its the element, its better just to replace the seat... as labour to strip and replace is almost cost of seat - so hope this will be covered under warrenty

Oh, if its warranty, let them sort it. The Trident warranty is very, very good.

its a 3rd party warranty so I think as discussed previously I could have a small battle on my hands

This must be ideal for a nice little project fix.

If you do bite the bullet can you make sure you document the strip down with pics a do a HOW TO for our technical section?

Do we know if the OP got anywhere with this?

My drivers side doesn't heat up. The switch on the seat is working as I can hear the relay clicking away.

It's on my to do list, have just have been busy with my other little jobs, so have not investigated it further.

I'll check the relay and any fuses and go from there. It's not vital as I won't be driving the Mazza in the winter, but I want it to be as nice as it can be.

this is going back, I think it turned out to be relay or switch. the seat / heat element was fine.

check if your seat is getting power, the relay maybe switching but not feeding power to the seat. could be fuse as they are all over the place in these cars!

maybe swap the relay / switch over with other seat just for testing.

Swapping over will be my first port of call.

I'm out of the country right now, but will start investigating when I get back.

I'm doubting it would be the heating element.

Managed to fix the heated seat. Swapped the relays, checked the fuse, all good, so narrowed down to the switch or the heating element.

Held the switch down with my finger, heated seat came on, so obviously the switch. Sprayed contact cleaner down it and exercised it a few times and hey presto.

Ready for winter.

So often the case. Water drips onto them from the roof

So my heated seat switch is not working again, dodgy contacts. I spray with contact cleaner and it works, leave it a while, it stops.

Can you gain access to beneath the switch?

Just bumping this thread again.

I think you can take the heated seat controller / switch out as a unit.

Has anyone done this?

Going to attempt to permanently fix my issue.

Cheers

It looks like I've got to take the seat out to gain access to the screws to remove the seat controls.

I've found the seat removal guide on here thankfully.

Will give it a go later.

Would be a good opportunity to replace the rear plastic trims on the seat runners, but I doubt I'll get hold of replacements.
