Hello guys. I'm new here and I'm going to buy 3200 GT.
I wanted to buy manual transmission car, but I find really good looking car with automatic transmission. I've heard that sometimes there are problems with that kind of gearbox in 3200 GT, but car looks really nice and mileage is really low - 45000km. Is this gearbox problematic?
The second problem is that the engine after start has problem with revs - it increased to 1700 and then fall down to 1200 - and again to the 1700 and again down.
I don't know if it is big problem, but I really would like to buy it - especially that it is green :)
The VIN number is ZAMAA38B000002392 and it comes from the German market I suppose - maybe someone knows something about this car.
Best Regards from Poland.

Auto suits the car quite well, though mine is a manual. I drove both not much in it. The idle fluctuations could just be needing a throttle reset, or at worse a refurbed throttle body , about £400, or pedal pot, slightly less. Be aware though if it has a lot of small niggles brakes needing done, belts etc. then it can all add up to a few thousand. Try and get the car inspected before hand as it could save you a lot. They are great cars, even in green ;)

Hi Kudaszyn and a big warm welcome to the forum...........I believe that the auto box doesn't have too many problems...In fact the manual had more I think.

Auto boxes are generally very reliable. Hunting at idle is quite common and could be a number of things, Throttle reset, throttle body, vacuum leak, or it may just need a good run to clean the Lambda sensors, Does it settle when its warm?. If you can get it inspected by someone who knows 3200's and check for good service History.

Green is good especially Verdi Brooklands.

The problem is that I don't know anybody who knows 3200gt... Moreover I think it would be hard to find somebody who can check it for me in South Poland...

There is a mas dealer in Poland so they might know if there are specialists doing the older cars?

I understand, location could always be a problem. What is the cars service history and has it had a cam belt change in the last 3 years? if it has then you could take a chance but allow £1000 to sort the idle problem. If it has not had a cambelt and service then allow £2000 for a full service and to sort idle problem.

And another 2 for brakes and stuff if it needs them, this is why it is important to have them checked over.

Kuba', it may be worth it for you to get the car inspected at the closest main dealer and ask them for a condition report. You can then make a decision on the car, ask for a quote to do any work they find, which will be expensive usually, but maybe some bits can be done at a local garage to save money, though not engine or electrics..!! The Auto Gearbox is excellent and more or less trouble free, with no clutch to replace..!!

You could ask a German Maserati Forum if there is a specialist close to the Polish border with Germany..??

Thank's for advise - I'm going to take the car to the service in Warsaw - and then I will make decision :)
I know that after connection to the computer - an error code P1172 appears...
Does anybody knows if it may be the reason of the fault?
Regards

If you cannot find a good specialist in Poland, I would suggest against using the dealer.
The car will cost a fortune to run and fix if done trough the dealer.

Do you have mechanical skills to service it yourself?
All the information you will need is on the Internet, this forum and the service manual.
And the memebers here are more than willing to provide you with aditional information and where to source cheaper parts.

Hi Kuba,

Since this Maserati 3200 is still for sale in "Kłodzko" I guess you did decide to do not take it.
Can I know which was the reason why?

Apparently the guy is trying to sell this car since 2012 .. asking 25k euro back in 2012, and now he ask only 15k ... this alone does not inspire lot of trust ...

Thanks
