Folks

Look for recommendations for hotels with parking in London, would be travelling down from the North A1M so North side of London be better.

Never driven in London in my life assume moving around in the centre as a completely screw on??

Happy to consider something a little more up the food chain or any good national ones would get a look in.

Cheers

I use the Danubious Hotel next to Lords Cricket Ground in St John's Wood every week.

Let me know if you are to use it as I may be able to arrange a discount.

Perfect cheers, will go take a look.

What happens with the congestion charge do you just drive in and get sent a bill or something if they snap your plate in a camera ?

They snap your plate and you pay online but don't forget or the fine is 10x the daily charge, no congestion charge at weekends

Driving in central london, good luck with that , yellow box cameras, bus lane cameras, fixed speed cameras, average speed cameras, get waze if you don't already have it, the camera alarm with be like having a steel band playing in the car.

I'd pick a hotel on the outskirts and get the tube in unless you need the car

Its outside of the zone.

you can set up an account which will bill you automatically. Be aware that it (the charge) only applies on working days.

Why not get the train down? Dave Richardson posted a very nice write-up of a recent visit to London by train. Has anyone heard from him recently?

Train was number 1 choice but the ticket prices are a joke quite frankly hence thinking drive down. I don't take the train that often but fek me if that's what public transport costs

Know what you mean. For comparison, took a train from Turin to Brescia for €8. That's about London to Sheffield in distance. Albeit a few years ago but even so.

It's cheaper to drive when did that happen, trains just a joke now unless it's midweek, a **** time or your heading in the opposite direction to everyone else. Hardly any wuicker as well when you factor I getting to / from stations.

Forget hotels with a car park. Use the Q Park on Park Lane which is big with big spaces and almost invariably has fancier cars than anything any of us drive. Stay at the Doubletree on Bryanston St, which is pretty close. Or, frankly, any Mayfair or Hyde Park hotel won't be too far away.

Like the look of that could be a goer, gets us into the centre as well pretty sure I've stayed next to Hyde park before
