Think it needs to be cheaper...plus I couldn't do it so would need to pay someone which would take it over what it would be worth..

Andy South west salvage are quite a good company to deal with , guaranteed they paid less than £6k for the car more like £5K allowing for transport etc etc an offer in the region of £7500-£8K would be about par for the course , tops £2k max for a tip top repair and detail would give you something really special

Still if you're new to all this take a seasoned expert along................no point in getting caught first time out.........

Buyer beware.....................especially as a first timer!

Handing it over to someone else even for the small bits ie the upper wishbone etc might cost you an extra K but would maybe give you peace of mind , these are the kind of bits i normally take care of myself and save a little along the way but definately all done and on the road around the £11k mark for sure

Yeh but its the best of mercedes had to offer at the time and the 65AMG will cost over £130,000 when new.Cars restricted to 155mph but with a derestriction chip will be the far side of 200mph.
also probably gets better fuel economy than a 4200.It looks like little work but as with anything history is paramount.
If i were a gambling man i would take a punt on this but would need to see it first.
A weakness with this model and the sl series is the rear boot/hood seals which can and do allow water ingress into and onto the central locking and roof mechanism control motors and this is a big job if it happens.
Its odd that damage appears to be minimal but lights are missing, so can we assume that the breaker had the parts needed to replace what was bent?

Hard to say Adam without viewing , could be a stolen recovered and been partial stripped , happens a lot cars stolen to order for parts , but for £15k its not really a punt , breaking it would recoup that easily , its the sort of car you have to view straight away, have the dosh ready, make an impulse buy and crack on with it, been there a few times myself , and as yet not tripped up

Yes well this is me were talking about and knowing my luck LOL!!!
If i were to go for a German car it would be something like the SL65 AMG.
However i have to sell my car firstly and a buyer is coming tonight around 7:30.
I would then consider this car and maybe a 3200 as i am bored.bored bored (which also makes me cynical and in some posts almost confrontational i am told LOL...for which i am sorry, doffed cap being wrung in hands )

Mind you it states that the damage is mechanical so maybe the car is a non runner, this is a far more problematic situation as a replacement "Lump" for the car is the most difficult to find and expensive i would guess.
they need to be a little more specific really.

Thanks for the wellwishes....It will or it wont i guess, but then i have just cleaned it and its really in need of it,all this nice weather and its Drive drive drive and no time to clean...not good as i have now found at least 4 small stone chips and one is in the middle of the bonnet!! .....I no Like and it may well be a respray for the bumper and bonnet if i keep her.
Problem with cleaning it is i can see what a lovely car it is....Now..........I guess i am not going to negotiate under £22k as thats still a lot less than its cost me to sort but i am after a 4 seater maser and something to asway the boredom.
