If Porsche Can...

Apparently 70% or so of Porsche cars ever made are still on the road which I thought was very impressive...

And even now there still making original spare parts for the older cars..

Fiat on the otherhand needs F-cking regarding there attitude to there classic marques..there's no factory support, no new parts, no effin anything!

Sorry for the rant

Agree wholeheartedly. ..fiat should be shot for their flagrant disregard to the older cars...clearly they do not care a jot about us and others with e en older Maserati.

I think we are all with you on this rant. Not just that the parts you can get like a new reverse switch for a GS £500 + for something that probably costs £10 to make. Just a bit of fairness for the owner of the older car. It would go a long way.

Unfortunately it is just blind arrogance on their part. They just don't get it that it makes sense to keep older cars on the road by pricing obsolete model parts realistically. It's total f..king madness and bad economics.

Well.. With over 900000 911 ever made they still have some mouth to feed I guess. Maserati still built cars by hand in 1998...

Is it not just a quantity thing. Porsche & Merc make so many cars that they can afford to carry spares. Fiat on the other hand don't

I beleive if you know the right people in Maserati if you ask the parts will materialise.

Ferrari also will build you a new engine for say a Daytona, for £15k which I thought was very good value considering. The only downside is you might have to wait for 2 years for it to materialise.

Honda used to be able to supply any part for any model they have ever made. Not sure whether still the case though.
Lotus pretty good too, considering the low volumes made.

I remember going into a Vauxhal/GM dealer, in around 1990. to order a brake part for a 1970 Corvette. No problem, came in a bag marked 1954 to date!

Most of us on here with "older" masers came into ownership knowing that there was dwindling support from the makers and even less interest in us as enthusiasts as highlighted by the backhand handling of the centenary. But the silver lining is that because of that lack of official support SM is the natural home for all of us for advice, guidance, sourcing of parts and, as evidenced recently by the brake disc buy, innovation to resolve issues. Personally, given the choice between maker support or enthusiast support, I would take the later every time.......would be nice to have both but it seems fiat have no shame, sense of responsibility or interest in customers beyond the service period of their vehicles.

What was the problem with the centenary?
I wasn't there.

Without opening this can of worms all over again, we arrived in Modena, nearly 100 cars in all for the celebration, not only to be shunned by the Official organisations but to find that had cancelled our pre booked event in Modena square that we had arranged with the mayor of Modena and also they tried to shut down our Panini museum meeting on the Sunday. Fortunately for us, Mr Panini told them to F*** off and that we were the real enthusiast that the centenary should have been about!

The guy is a legend and forever a friend of this forum:

We found out at a later date that Maserati sold the event to an American, we are not sure if it was a company or an individual. Still, Maserati bungled it.

That's awful ... I had no idea they could interfere in an event brokered directly with the Mayor ...
Thank you for the reference to Panini.
I remember buying sticker collections from his Family business when I was a kid.
Glad to see my money has been put to good use by this man :)

I never new that there was lack of support for our cars from maserati fiat. Just wasn't something I came across in the reading up on these cars before I bought.
Would it have changed my mind on buying my GS I don't think so as it was this site that was the deciding factor in me purchasing my car.

We still had fun Dave and made sure Maserati knew our displeasure!

I did also hear their FaceBook page got absolutely panned when this news broke and Maserati were kept busy deleting the comments.

Maybe next time they will take note of their shortfalls but I doubt it.
