hello everyone,

i am thinking about buying a maserati 3200 in europe. has anyone got experience with the process (DVLA, paperwork etc.)? also does anyone know how easy it would be to change the headlights to UK specs? are there any other parts that would need to be changed? thanks!!! - boss

If its a EU car there is no need to 'Import' you just register the car with the DVLA at Swansea or one of their local offices (if there are any left now).

However given that it will be LHD and you will need to fit new headlights for the MOT, along with the fact they cost quite a bit more on the continent as they do here in England, why are you bothering?

You will probably find a better car here for the same money...and you know how they like to park in France and Italy etc, so minor scrapes are more common...so unless you need LHD????

Agreed Peter, why bother, much more expensive and grief, unless going back to the EU after a period here, but then why re-register if staying less than a year?

thank you for your replies! well, the problem is that i have been looking to buy a 3200 in black with black interior and for the last 8 months none came to market. then when you look at europe they are a lot more available.... i guess i will wait a few more months and see if anything comes up in that combination. thanks again! bosse

No probs importing from the EU. I bought my first one (in LHD) from Monaco back in about 1998 (approx) as the RHD cars hadn't arrived in the UK in any.
