Interior light Query

I've been playing with the interior light in the Gransport.

The buttons didn't work, so one culprit was a failed reading light bulb (I have no spare) but the 'normal' interior light doesn't work on the switch.

I dropped the whole unti out, and figured out the connections (I think - does the unit run permanent live and switch to Earth, ot the other way around?) and then put a meter across the switch terminals and tested the switches and neither did anything.

I'm assuming that this is a proper switch, not some CAN bus connected signal generator, so it looks like neither switch operates.

Looking from ABOVE the unit I think the terminals are as follows, left to right..

for a switched live system

L - this confuses me - it looks like a switched neutral for the tiny Switch illumination lamp which comes on when exterior lights are on
2 - Perm live - feeds the 2 switches and the tiny switch light lamp.
3 - Door open Switched live for interior light
4 - Neutral return for the 2 bulbs

Am I best just spending £20 on a secondhand unit?

Thanks

Mine had a similar problem I noticed a touch of corrosion on the solders particularly one of them which pushed the circuit upwards slighty. Cleaned with a brass wire brush and firmly/gently pushed the solder back down and it works fine now

I even did a thread on it: http://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/dome-light.25166/

Thanks - I did a search but not for "dome light", mine has the same corrosion and raised bits so I'll have a play with it.

Hmm... check your heater matrix (if it has not already been done). Better knowing it is not leaking than ignoring the potential that it might be, mine was leaking for a while and a theory I have is that the corrosion on the solders was caused by the coolant evaporating up the windscreen into the dome light.
