Is it worth getting ZF oil change (GTS)?

So I understand the dubious claims of 'lifetime oil' of sealed ZF auto boxes, just wondering about experiences of folks with higher mileage cars (mine is on 72K). I have an auto box specialist nearby who can crack the seals, replace filter and oil then re-seal for about £500.

For those who got the oil changed, did you notice any difference?

Are there any issues noted for these auto boxes that would have been avoided if the oil change had been done?

Get it done and when you see the colour of the old oil against the new you will understand.
My advice is get a genuine ZF service kit for the correct oil and the filter is part of the sump.
It's not a bad job to do but you need to know the temperature of the oil for checking the level.
Done easily with diagnostic gear.

Didnt notice a big difference, maybe slightly smoother. Had it done as a precaution, no real issues. But with 100k miles not a bad idea.

Tempted to get mine done on the Ghibli. I know you've suggested it previously

Seriously one of the best bits of advice I can give.
If I remember your first Jaguar XF had to have a transmission Chris done under a warranty luckily.

Ooooh, blimey I was about to say 'Huh' then I remembered. It was definitely not a happy ZF. Kept dropping into N and refusing to select a gear. <makes note for Feli> :) Needs rear discs and pads as well. Oh well. It's only money :D

Update on this..
So I got my auto box oil, seal and filter changed today with a localish (Leicester) firm that is a ZF approved repairer. They did the change and said the old oil was very dark but nothing sinister like metal bits etc.

Car drives the same as it did before, but at least I know the oil is good for a long while now..
