Huge injection of cash needed...

His service bill was over 5k
No car ever warrants that kind of service bill ......if other work is included then it can be an open ended shock sometimes just diagnosing stuff, Like lifes2short I have become attuned to the fact we have gone way too far in terms of technology for it to be practical and economical, EV's now seem to have become a disposable item similar your mobile phones and computer games, obsolete after the batteries expire and just not worth the time effort and cost of maintaining them on the road ............so how is that green and good for the environment grrrrrr

Simple answer, is its not. I watched a panel of automotive gods being interviewed and their concensus was just that, cars as a long term ownership proposition and something you keep forever is not going to be a thing anymore and that there has to be mindset shift amongst the general public.

ICE's get better and more efficient all the time. There is no one solution that suits everyone. EV's definitely have their place, but so do good old fashioned noise makers.

Honda and the Chinese are working on an ammonia fuelled combustion engine, hydrogen is another option as are synthetic fuels.

EV tech is progressing so quickly, but it's not there yet, nevermind the infrastructure.

My original view was that EV's were never going to work and have a chance in the market place all the time batteries had to be recharged as the infrastructure was always going to be too costly and too lengthy to be practical, I can never understand why there wasnt a concensus between the manufacturers to standardize batteries in terms of shape and size , so that vehicles pulled into garages/refuelling stations and the whole battery was replaced by forklift/specially designed machine in less that five minutes , ( one out and one in so to speak) ....... bit like we do with propane gas bottle refills
