From my recollection it was on the passenger side of the boot. The electrician dried it out and it worked as nothing was damaged. But a good auto electrician should be able to fix any components damaged without replacing whole unit

I get this message when I haven’t used the car for a while, leave it trickle charging the battery for a while and they then work perfectly...

After not working for most of the year mine started beeping at me again about two days ago. I wonder if the hot weather has dried something out. I'll have to check that unit.

My GS was the same...as soon as it warmed up all was ok...but for the rest of the year it was dud.

Replacement fitted last year and all is good again no matter the weather.

...and took it out for a drive today, on return, no parking sensors! They'll be back again next summer I guarantee it. Does anyone know where this module thing is located so I can have a look for moisture?

You can see it through the near side removable panel inside the boot (about 6 inch square).

Mine were working briefly in the summer but have now ‘flown south’ for the winter as well!

Was going to WD40 the heck out of the unit, but think I need to take the whole of the boot inside cover out to actually be able to disconnect the unit.

Thanks for that, I'll take another look, disassemble the boot if needed, and update.

My QPV sensors are a temperamental set of annoyances... a few days of sunshine and everything is fine, wet and cold I get the errors. One of the the things I keep thinking about looking at and may try again soon as they are helpful!

So I've popped off those panels and had a feel around, what am I meant to be seeing? And whats that plug on the right image for?

Here's the control unit:

Here's the inside of the control unit. Terrible dry joints along the top. Here's a photo of the other side too, which looks fine.

Gave them all some fresh solder:

And we're back in business:

It may be simply unplugging and plugging the unit back in might have fixed it, but I think its probably those dry joints being a little more conductive in the summer heat and failing in the winter cold. If anyone attempts this fix, remember to disconnect the battery to avoid fault codes.

Yowsers! How much trim did you have to remove to get to the blighter?! Looks like the whole boot!

Its most of it, definitely one whole side. Trouble is bits are fitted under other bits so lots of panels have to come out. The whole thing took a couple of hours I guess.

Thanks for the update Namaste! (literally), and all the photos - it will help a great deal when I attempt the job.

Don't use WD40...use this :

NANOPROTECH

I've used this spray on several electronic components, to include under-hood (bonnet) components and outdoor electrical equipment components. It works amazingly well and doesn't dry up like WD40 does.

Being the experienced Electronic Engineer that I am, I had a similar issue years ago on my 4200. One day, I was in the boot tending to something else, when I came across the Parking Sensor Box, so I had a rummage round, unplugged it, looked at the connectors, blew on them and plugged it back in. With the ignition on but engine not turning (important!) I could hear the sensors 'twitter'. Except for one, a gentle but firm amount of percussive attention on the offending sensor and it all now works and hasn't failed since...

Well I've now arrived at this problem. Drove the car last night when it was very wet and the parking aid packed in. Tried a battery reset and whilst still leaving the gearbox in Park if I press the button to engage the front sensors they work fine but as soon as I engage reverse the whole system packs in with the warning light. Does this mean that the issue is one of the rear sensors or the module itself?

PS Plugged in a cheap OBDII reader I keep for the Land Rover and it showed no codes!
