I tried (and mentioned the ZF Auto) but he must have missed that!
On a related topic. Has anyone driven the MC suspension set up? I’m interested in how it compares with skyhook and whether the MC could be a nice compromise with the natural feel of passive suspension but not to stiff if you still want the ZF waft box?
Yep - had the MC suspension on my GranCab-MC and my MC-Strad. It’s perfectly okay on the right roads (i.e. wide, flat, sweepy ones). Just not great for me on bumpy, narrow and damaged Dorset country lanes. My bottom-of-the-range 911 copes better here.
Not tried the MC Suspension but the Stradale (if different) is loads better than my GT Sport Auto with skyhook. Seems more planted yet compliant on British and French roads. this is from experience of being a passenger in Strads and driving mine. I've gone so far as costing out new Strad suspension from eurospares...
I'm surprised to hear Ewan say that, as I find that the MC suspension (MC handling pack) on mine really good, and where I am in the fens, the roads are terribly bumpy! In fact it copes with it much better than my wifes Audi and my previous Nissan GTR and 350z that I've had while living here.
Personally (only from test drives) I found the Skyhook a bit crashy and harsh in sport, and a bit too soft in normal.
The fixed dampers are more predictable and I think just right. I like the sporty, but still smooth ride of the MC set up very much.
My previous 2011 GTS also had fixed dampers, but not the MC pack. Again, I preferred these to skyhook. They were less sporty in feel to the MC pack, but rode the bumps even better. Probably the best option if you want a smooth predictable ride. Obviously another bonus of the fixed set ups is that they are cheaper and you get the option of selecting 'sport' for noise and gear changes without the harsh ride.
As far as I'm aware (I may be wrong) there are 3 suspension options on the GT and all are interchangeable.
1. Skyhook -
2. Fixed damper option on the pre- 2013 facelift cars - black shock Green springs - nice predictable feel with ride somewhere between Skyhook's Normal and Sport - great for bumpy roads.
3. MC - as fitted to Stradale and cars with MC handling pack. Black shock with Red 'MC' logo and red springs. 10mm Lower ride, predictable feel, similar stiffness to Skyhook in sport mode but without the harshness. Just right for a sportier feel but still capable of riding the bumps.
