I bought this about a year ago to tide me over for occasional work use while I searched for an E55K AMG Estate. I've managed to find and buy an E55K recently so this is now surplus to requirements and no longer required.

Great engine, gearbox and spec. It isn't the finest most expensive garage queen you will find but a very decent example. A couple of marks here and there but nothing too bad. The car seems to drive and work well so would make a fairly cheap practical family/work car for someone. Would either suit someone as a cheap car as is. Or could be improved a little further with a little time and money spent if desired.

Has had a recent service 400 miles ago and a long mot until 9th January 2025. The front tyres have plenty of tread left but the rears are getting low so will need replacing soon. Interior is in very good condition. Exterior very good too with some minor marks/scratches.

Very high spec car with:
Keyless go/start
Heated and cooled electric memory leather seats with dynamic/massage function
Sunroof
Harmon Kardon surround audio system
18" AMG staggered alloys
AMG dual exhaust system
Airmatic air suspension
7 seater with optional rear facing seats
ULEZ Compliant
Cheaper Lower Car Tax Bracket

Has the bulletproof M113 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine with automatic gearbox.

Price is listed at £4995 but open to any offers from any forum members. Happy to sell to a forum member cheaper. Although in no rush to sell it will just sit on the drive until sold now so happier to sell at a fair price. It is worth what it is worth to someone or the market and hard to see what these are worth as not too many around and the mileages vary a fair bit. Happy to listen to any offers.

Car can be viewed most days/times in Welham Green, Hertfordshire, AL9.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

I might be interested in some kind of swap deal with anything interesting so feel free to message me with any options if so.

Had a viewing yesterday and a few offers so far. Not a million miles away from where I'd like to be. Just waiting for the viewer to work out some numbers and get back to me with his offer.

I hadn't started or used it for a few weeks but started it yesterday only to find a battery warning/error on the dash. Had a look and small aux battery under the bonnet looks expanded and old. Replaced this with a new aux battery and all good as gold now with no errors or malfunctions. The rear battery looks fairly new and shows a good state so that one seems perfectly fine.

I've dropped the price a little bit to £4695 and had two offers so far both at £3500 and in two minds whether to accept one of these or not.

The car isn't perfect or a garage queen but far from a shocker so seems a lot of car for the money to me. No rush to sell but no point it sitting there for ages. Still got it taxed this month and will use it a little to keep it ticking along nicely.

I assume you’ve seen the 05 estate, also with 177k miles, for £3,150 on autotrader too. Although that has an lpg conversion which I’m not sure what affect on value that has!
I’d quite like an E63 from that era, but with the 6.2l which seems to be as limiting as an Alpina B5 touring in terms of numbers produced… of course the committee is yet to approve anyway :f7:

Hmmm, that's a 30% drop from you asking price. Seems a bit harsh?

Yes, a little harsh I think but I've had two offers there at £3500 and seems to be at least a solid bottom line price. I suspect these cars at certain mileages can be extremely variable. Depends if you want a quick sale or need to sell quick or is a distressed sale. I'm in no rush but not greedy neither.

There aren't often many low mileage examples of this kind of car as they are bought to do big miles and are designed to do so. I don't doubt they would do many hundreds of thousands of miles without too much of an issue.

Yes, saw that one. I think if anything the LPG would reduce the value these days not enhance it. Certainly on the MB forum I'm on and in my experience talking to MB specialists and techs over the years not many would buy one with an LPG system on and would likely disable or remove it.

It always put me off cars that had them. I just don't do enough miles to worry about it and the additional things to go wrong and service adds a burden for me as a fairly low mileage driver. I think if you did a stack of miles per this might be very different of course.

Seemed a lower spec car as well but still seemed decent enough.
I've always preferred the supercharged units for their delivery but the 6.2 NA in the E63 is a cracking engine as well. Just delivers the power very differently. A bit more mid to top end focussed with the E55K being more low to mid end focussed.

All the E63's were the slightly higher tax bracket so adds another few hundred quid on top. Not much in the grand scheme of things but always bugs me paying more for nothing. Zero depreciation now really.

My old ml 500 ( 2003 ) had lpg and did 40000 no issue. Was a great alpine ski run car each year. It had two lpg tanks , big cylinder in boot and one under the car so held 150litres.

No perceivable loss of power or smoothness on lpg. That 5L merc engine of that generation is indestructible

I had LPG on a 156 3l. It was mostly fine. But I can't recall last time I saw an LPG pump...

C
Yes, I guess that might suit some more than others depending on if you have an LPG equipped station nearby. Apparently there are 1815 stations in the UK. More than I thought with circa 8400-8500 petrol stations in the UK it seems. I always thought LPG was about half the price of petrol but seems to be about 2/3 now.

Yeah, lower MPG as well. So probably not as good a deal as it was. I used to run Harlow > Marlow in mine and it was fine, but used 2/3 of a tank on the on day, as it were, so had to fill it every day if I wanted to keep using LPG. Wasn't too bad as there was an LPG pump at Marlow services (or round there) and another in Harlow, but AFAIK the Harlow one is gone now.
