SAAB 93 convertibles takes me back to the mid90s. A guy bought 7 of them (well 900s) throughout his time in Germany, all tax free. Made a fortune reselling them. If you can stand having the keyswitch in the centre console then they're the car for you. Well built with battleship grade Swedish steel, warm in the winter with the roof up and cheap parts. Is that 1.9 diesel a VW engine or GM?

Wasn't the 9-3 a Vauxhaul Vectra under the skin ?

Never felt like it, we had the 9-3 Aero cabriolet,

If looking at these - have a close look at the ridge down the rear flanks where the folding roof meets the metal, ours and our next door neighbours rusted in the same place so I suspect there is a bracket on the underside for the folding roof mechanism..

I really liked them Dave especially the convertible and they look good value these days.

If you want to explore the meaning of 'scuttle shake' Andy. I had a 900 turbo Aero conv. Not a a patch on the 3dr cars. Is it just me or was there something exciting about real turbo lag?!

Have my eye on a Saab Convertible. My Merc is sold and goes tomorrow so may get the Saab on Saturday unless I see something else.

Did you get the Saab in the end? I was talking to someone who suggested one of these as a good long distance cruiser, but still fun when you want the performance. Anyone got any experience of them?
I just found a great car on Auto Trader.

Not in the end. Got bored of driving for a couple of hours for a car which essentially with just be a short term runaround.

Bought this instead which was less than 2 miles away.

She came up well Mark.

She did indeed. A couple of little jobs to do and she'll be mint.
Pollen filter change, then get the air con sorted and I think that will be it.
Might change the steering wheel if I can find a decent condition one for not silly money.

Might even make a profit when it gets sold on. (sound like Phil now).
