And the beautiful QP passed with flying colours, no advisories, everything in top shape the man said.

Always nice to know

Got mine at the end of the month. It ‘should’ pass. But I know there will be a number of advisories.
All of which will addressed shortly.

Always good to get a clean bill of health. I was gutted when mine failed due to a worn out tyre (inside edge) after 11 years of all clear notices.

I know what you mean, i like to try to keep mine clear of advisories / failures by going through it so it will pass.

That mot history is a great tool but can make a really well looked at car look neglected

If you are into your car ownership, receiving an advisory, or worse still a fail, feels like a personal insult.

Mine failed - cracked windscreen that got worse and worse - replaced two days ago on insurance, nice job, Maserati part (£2k apparently) and no clicks left on handbrake, being sorted today hopefully.

My Golf failed a couple of days ago, I asked the MOT tester to do a pre-check (knowing that there were a couple of bits that needed fixing like the horn and indicator issue) and he goes and logs it on the database. I was ******* fuming! :( It makes the owner look bad for submitting a car with something obvious like broken horn etc....

I don't think they have a choice any more, do they?

Perhaps one of our testers can confirm.

I had the same with Lancaster. "There you go, sir, it failed?" "It ****ing did what?", etc, is broadly how the discussion went.

Who did the w/screen job please.
Mine has a small crack low down out of drivers sight line so no MOT failure, but I may get it done at some point.

I'd be really p1ssed off with that, I need to take my GS for good check over after the subframe work before mot time.

Will use my friendly local garage that doesn't do mots but still know what to check.

That's probably the right approach. I think Catchap is right, an MOT tester can't not fail a car which wouldn't pass, if that makes sense. Bollox, innit.

If you ask them to inspect the car as a pre-mot then they can just like anyone can give the car a health check in between mot's.

No agreed. I know the brakes and emissions are fine, it's things like joints, shocks, subframe etc...

The emissions machine at my tester isn't linked to the computer, they can run it whenever they like, they just input it into the DVSA website to create the certificate. I'd be ****** if they failed my car after I asked for a pre-mot too Phil.

I *think* to run the test, they need the computer. Could be wrong though.

Once you log in with the car details you have to go through the test menu, any deviation is a fail..

I suppose if you knew them and having say a bulb out they'd let it go

Why would you present a car for a MOT test with a few silly faults that you could have fixed yourself beforehand

Muppetry!
