You'd think she'd have pulled a comb through her hair before the photo was taken eh?

Attractive she is but I don't think her attire is condusive to operating hand tools and machinery while working in a Maserati specialist garage. I shall be contacting the H.S.E. shortly to report the offense, tut tut.

Suggest you call him as well. He will talk through various issues with you and give you an unbiased opinion on any car whether he is selling it or not. He may also know a particular car you are looking at elsewhere and save you a lot of wasted time and money on a wild goose chase.

Went to view my first 4200 the other day, and like you was disappointed.
It amazes me how little prep work had been done just to make the car look clean......door shuts, various easily accessible channels etc under the bonet were full of leaves and crud, and with some screws missing here and there.
Ok, I'm not expecting a 10 year old car to be perfect, but come on dealers make some effort to earn your margin!

I'm seriously now tempted to consider a quattroporte, so if anyone knows of a cared for example with FSH and backup paperwork, do get in touch.

Oh and if any of you bikers fancy a KTM RC8 I have one for sale (proceeds going to new car :) )

Good luck Mike

One of my best mates father is selling his quatroporta very soon ,not to sure about age etc but I know he has spent a lot of money recently on it new clutch, f1 pump etc its in dark blue with cream interia and absolutely immaculate and serviced at main dealers . the reason for selling is that he doesn't use it much as he has other cars . if ya interested I can find out more .

Hi Mike,

I looked at this one in December at the same dealer £15 or £16k, it was my first maserati test drive, so it felt powerful but, maybe it was the cold freezing weather, it didnt feel right, also the battery was flat, then as you say, rear screen coming away, P-zeros that were on the tread guides, smelt damp inside and that back street garage history really put me off. They were keen to deal and I noticed it disappeared (from memory) off their stock list in February, but now it's back.
Like people say, at 10 years old they're not going to be perfect and there's that trade off of being under used vs regular use.
I drive mine every excuse I can and It always seems better after a 100-200 mile blast

Thing is, how much margin *is* there on a £13k car.

Clearly if you're not happy with it, walk away. Kind of stuff that wouldn't bother me, except as indicators of reduced maintenance expenditure, but if the bills were there to show that the 'important' things were done, I'd be thinking about it.

But each to their own, hey :)

I just checked my phone pics and that cars 2012 service just says oil and filter change, at gn motors heckmondwike, maybe give them a call? that clutch must be nearly cooked though, I got a blank look when I mentioned the potential cost and asked was there a warranty...

Too many garages buy these early cars for a bit of fun then try to sell them on with no idea of the car and what needs to be done to keep tbem tip-top.

A service is not just a fluid and filter change like a fiesta...there is so much more to keeping these cars running sweet...but those who pock them up for peanuts want to spend the same...but there are good cars out there...just need to keep looking.

Haha hes, I got a similar blank look when I mentioned a warranty, he then went on to tell me stories of a VW dealership he worked at. I'd already decided it wasn't for me by then anyway.
