Hi,

You may/may not remember me, but I had a Maserati Gransport MC Victory (blue) that I sold (wish I had kept it) #129.

Well I'm back in an Italian car. It was built in the Maserati factory, however it's an Alfa Romeo... An Alfa Romeo 4c Coupe, early days (got it yesterday). But absolutely love it. The noise is amazing.

Anyway hope I can stay here and not get booted out cos I got an Alfa.

I'm looking forward to reading more about it. I've wanted one of these since they were first announced; I can remember all the wild speculative threads on Alfaowner.

@TridentTested I've driven the car for about 500 miles so far, and it sounds like a group B rally car (not what I expected at all) lot's of wooshing noises from the Turbo.

The steering has no power assistance so a little difficult to park. the front of it is VERY low. I have a slight incline on our drive so have to drive in backward at a slight angle (the picture my wife went in forward and scraped the underside :-( )

The acceleration when the turbo comes on is incredible. It feels like an "old school" turbo car around 2,500 -- 3,000rpm it flys and I mean really flys.

I also have a Ford Focus RS and that now feels like a sedate relaxed car (which previously I felt wasn't)

The radio is **** and not worth bothering with as the engine/turbo is sooo loud.

Whenever I drive it I have a smile on my face and to me this is what the car is all about.

If you are interested in one, try and have a test drive of one that has had the Alfaworks suspension fixes. Alfaworks themselves have a demo car perhaps you could get them to allow you to have a ride in theirs.

Anyway as I have only had it for a weekend perhaps I am in the honeymoon period. I'll keep you posted on it (if interested).

If you are near me (Berkshire) happy to take you out for a spin.

Now that I like. I can cope with a bit of parking inconvenience assuming it lightens up on the move. I hate modern power steering systems which do the reverse: finger light for ten minutes in the car park then artificially heavy on the motorway for the rest of the day. At least the QP's old-school hydraulic assistance is well conceived and has nice feedback at all speeds - they've done an excellent job for such a big car, but obviously nothing like a direct system on a light car.

the front of it is VERY low.

That, I don't like :(

If you are near me (Berkshire) happy to take you out for a spin.

Thank you, very kind. I'll bear it in mind.

This one Pete?

A fair bit of water under the bridge since then.

I like the Alfa.

Has it had engine, mods? The 4C I drove did have turbo whoosh but not that loud. Jamie at Alfa Workshop is an old fashioned engineer and I have heard his mods improve the car beyond all recognition, he has offered me a drive in his demo car I really need to get over and have a go.

As far as the documents in the car say... It has had a quicksilver exhaust (to avoid the 70mph boom) and the suspension modifications to improve the slightly wayward handling.

I test drove one when they first came out & I must admit I don't remember the turbo making the same noise. Perhaps I wasn't thrashing it enough.

All in so far really enjoying it. It's the first car I have EVER had where I got up at 07:00 on a Sunday morning to go for a blast. I have had some mega cars in the past (Gransport MC Victory, R8, Jag F-Type V8, Lotus Elise) and this one is the only one that has really got under my skin.

Makes the Focus RS feel like a "normal boring car" which it isn't of course :)
