Update.
Blue car - wheels now restored including new centres from Eurospares. Oddly, the silver centres with red tridents that I went for again cost £24 odd each where the gloss black one with chrome trident on the other car were a paltry £8 odd each. No idea why the price difference. Because they can I suspect!
Tomorrow it's in for paint. We're painting the nose, rear bumper and offside wing and side skirt. Nothing serious, just a refresh. Will be back for the 21st then it's booked in to Maserati Hamilton for a totally free health check. I called looking for a price to service as if it's competitive with my specialist, I'd rather the main dealer stamp. They offered to do a free check and report and then price up from there. Great service!
I've noticed 2 tiny specs of oil on the garage floor and as the engine bay is a little grubby, I can't see where it's coming from on. I've topped the oil just in case with Helix 0/40 but I think its probably just a loose return pipe/hose or similar. Will find out soon I guess!
I spent last night cleaning the leather with a Meguiars product than cleans and feeds in one. It responded well but I'll do again after the paint just to keep it nice. There are a couple of very minor wear areas consummate with its age and mileage but generally it's in very good nick. I've always shyed away from lighter leathers over fears on marking and staining but this car is showing that good quality leather will stand up to daily use well. The rest is just a little patina !!
Steve, keep an eye on the thread. I'm not sure what I'll do with the car but will let you know as the adventure unfolds.....
