Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum with a 2005 Gransport.
I’m after a little advice please. Is to normal for the engine temp to sit around 70C on the motorway?
The engine get up to 90C when in town etc but seems to drop when I get up to speed. I was wondering if my thermostat could be stuck open?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Ted, welcome to the forum.

It is perfectly normal, this was the case with my GS and I know a lot of others have seen it. I bugged me, so I changed the sender and the thermostat, and it was exactly the same. Personally I think it is because the sender is located on the return from the rad, rather than in the block itself.

As long as it warms up quickly and goes up to 90, but no further, your stat is probably fine.

Thats sounds normal. The fan kicks in around 90C and cools it down to 70 ish before it cuts off again. It will rinse and repeat if your in slow moving traffic

Thank you very much for the welcome and the reassurance.
I fitted a new coolant temp sensor today along with a new coolant fan resister and it also made no difference.
Glad to hear its normal.

Welcome Ted, the engine generates a lot of heat so it's quite normal, as is a fluctuating battery voltage.

A big warm welcome Ted. If you have any pictures of you Gransport make sure you post them as we would all live to see it.
