Over the last 4 months and 3000 miles, according to the on-board computer I have averaged 22mpg in my '06 QP DS, and that's mainly a-b roads (very little motorway, and very little town driving). I'm perfectly happy with that.

But a while ago I ran a different '06 QP DS for 2 years as my daily driver and averaged 18 mpg over that time frame. Maybe I'm driving slower, now that I'm older!

The grey car sounds too cheap to me, and the ad is inaccurate (as has been mentioned) - but that's not to say it's a bad one. It could just be a genuine bargain! Go and see it.

My 56plate 07 QP Sport GT has been a total joy to own & drive. I've lapped the nurburgring, driven to Lake Garda, been over the Stelvio Pass. It's also great for taking friends & family out to dinner, & blagging all the best parking spaces!

Watching people say Look at that a Maserati, never gets boring! Best car I have owned all-round.

grey car sold. maybe it was a genuine bargain. I really like that colour combination, having had a black m5, I'm not keen on the darkest colours that are so tough to keep clean.....

if I got anything 18+ I'd be ok with that. 22 and I'd have bought a more economical car!

that is exactly how I'd ideally use one..........did Lake Garda and the alps myself last year in a Boxster S - was good for the trip - but if a QP can 'do it all' and be fun along the way, its just what I'm after.

plus I could give it a good wax and polish and take it to shows.

ive just measured my garage and reckon a QP might be 10mm too long for it though.........not a deal breaker but I wouldn't relish it sitting on the drive through winters....

Surely there would be 10mm os so of adjustability on the garage door? Or just refit the whole door and surround a couple of cm further forward.

yeah I'm sure theres something I could do to sort that.

just found this video of a 4200 (manual by the looks of it) and a CSL on the track. Interesting to see the 4200 keep pace on the straights and how much sharper it turns in (criticised by TopGear for it) - looks like a tougher drive though at the limit!

Definitely sounds like a non-standard exhaust to me, but I've only ever been inside a Spyder, so maybe that is stock. Nice bit of driving and amazing how much better the maser is on the brakes.

Very interesting and surprising. The Maser driver looks more talented to me - later braking (brave!!) and quicker through the twisties. The M3 was pulling away on the straights, though. I would have thought it would be the other way round....

The manual gearbox on that 4200 didn't seem too bad to me....maybe were all getting a bit too lazy with all this flappy paddle tech
And how do you heel and toe with a Cambio Corsa? ( Alfa 156 Selespeed system ) you can't!

Plus, you can grab a bargain with the manual 4200 as the are cheaper than a CC and you don't get the £2000 plus cost of that CC clutch..

Dave don't mention selespeed...terrible gearbox and one I have nightmares about...The one we had in a 156 Sportswagon just kept going wrong and cost us a fortune on the end. Not Alfas greatest moment.

9:1 ratio of sales, so harder find a good 'un, horses for course Andy.....the CC in sport mode is the way to go......AND...the life of latest clutches much longer than originals!
