Ciao guys!

Been lurking here for a while; have owned several Alfas, but secretly coveting a Masi.. Finally went for it and bought a 2011 QP S. Love the car, every bit as tantalizing as I expected. Looking forward to sharing the joys and swearing over unavoidable peculiarities with fellow brethren. Some pics for now.

Lars

Hi Lars, and greetings from us all!

Nice choice and I hope it gives you much delight. Where in Norway are you?
The custom floormat is funky.

Haha, thanks.

I am in Oslo, and the Persian mats have become something of a trademark. I have had them in all my Italians. Some love them, others rather less so..

Cheers Dave, thanks - I am totally in love with it.

I am afraid I can't claim any affiliation to the pic locations. Drove around in Oslo, looking for good backdrops. The property in the first pictures is an old Norsk Hydro (the ones with the fertilizer and aluminium) headquarters. Lovely place; now that I have the car I guess I must go for a suitable location..

(and I am sure you too will develop a good taste in floor accessories with a bit of patience)

I'll have to show you a picture of my Maserati in my garage. I actually park mine on a Persian rug!

Lovely - out of interest, what is the attitude of your compatriots to large engined cars with the implications for 1) CO2 and 2) what they might imply about someone's income?

I recall the Statens pensjonsfond Utland divesting from coal, Rio Tinto etc.. (ironically much of it back into oil and gas) and when my mother went on a walking holiday she was lectured on the UK's emissions of SO2 at every dead tree!

What do you do in the winter? Studded tyres or keep it in the garage?

Right.. funny you should mention that.. For a start, the motoring powers-that-be hate us. We get murdered on import duties and it doesn't help that it has a healthy appetite for fuel. However, when it comes to the general public, the situation is a bit different. Some expensive cars call for frowns (typically Porsches and fat-cat Audis), but others for thumbs-ups - luckily the Quattroporte is in the latter category. Seems like the beauty and aura of the car manages to bring out the best in people..

The intention is to use it year-round, but I can anticipate the agony when the sleet sets in. Perhaps a compromise, where it is used on nice winter days but kept out of the worst slush. I have a set of non-studded winter wheels (Nokian) that I think will do a good job in most winter conditions. However, for skiing trips to the mountains I think I will take the Ford with properly studded tires..

Looks great!
Someone was telling me the roads over there are fantastic for touring. Was strongly recommended to take my QP to Norway for the holidays.
Great quality surface, great views and winding open roads. Is that true?

Lars, welcome mate! I work in Norway from time to time including Oslo and Bergen. I know all about taxes out there so I salute you for choosing the Trident brand and the QP as a car!

I love the Norwegian attitude and temperament so assuming you are the same then you will accept the car for its quirks and enjoy ownership :D

If I am ever in town then I will make sure to let you know. You joined THE best forum and we will make sure we share your pain/pleasure and offer you the best advice you need.

Thanks for the warm welcome greetings guys! Much appreciated, and looking forward to sharing experiences.

Mr. Pea: That's proper car cuddling! I consider myself beaten on the Persian front..

Contigo: Please do - looking forward to it!

Pramrod: Yes and no. There is an abundance of very nice winding back roads and lovely nature, so in principle yes. However, the lack of A-roads in several areas means overflow to the B-roads and likelihood of congestion at peak hours. Also, Norwegian speeding fines are up there..
