Oil leaks Maserati Indy 4700

After working on getting my Maserati Indy on the road it is finally running. However it's got a lot of oil leaking form several places. First of all leaking from the valve covers. I recon this can be fixed by replacing the valve cover gaskets. However it also appears to be leaking form the chain tensioner opening at the front of the head. Anyone know how to stop this leak? Looking in the parts book I think I need rubber o-rings, but I am not sure I am interpreting this correctly. Any help appreciated.

I can’t actually find the idler shaft support in a parts book.

Try Googling the part number as an image search. It often works.

I think I need to replace the 2 rubber rings, 24 and 25. However is this possible by untensioning the tensioner and removing number 26? I guess the small rubber ring has to be placed on 23 and 23 needs to stay in place to ensure the sprocket 22 stays in place. I also read you need a special tool to remover the dowel 27, anyone know where to get this? Again any help is welcome

The Eurospares website says you can order one of them from Maserati. It’s not always right but might be worth trying.

It’s something I’ve no experience of but have a look at the end of the pin it might be threaded for use with a slide hammer.

I would speak to McGrath's, they have a lot of experience on the older Maserati. They all basically shared the same engine.

We found the main oil leak...unfortunately the head is cracked near the distribution chain. Probably the nut holding it was over torqued

Good news after a head rebuild almost all oil leaks are fixed. Only leak left is the one on the central distribution shaft but that apparently requires the engine to be taken out . One issue remaining is that there is some distribution chain noise now. My mechanic isn't quit comfortable with the tensioning procedure described in the operators manual. Also it is not completely clear if it comming from the cylinder head chains or from the lower chain. Any feedback is welcome :)

Maybe it's worth speaking with the likes of McGrath's for some advice.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
