Hi there,

Looking to get some paintwork repaired on my 3200 GTA, I have been recommended to use a company called Smart Car UK based in Swindon, has anyone used them, any comments, good or bad would be appreciated. Looked them up on google and they have predominantly good reviews but a couple of not so good ones.

Any help would be appreciated,

Regards

Not heard of them no but I would go on recommendation with any Smart repair firm as they are very hit and miss. Ask to see some of their repairs maybe go spend an hour and watch them do it.

Have a search for them on pistonheads as well.

I've not heard of them, but I'm not familiar with that part of the world for car stuff

Thanks for all the advice, considering getting it detailed to see how things go, considering the two bonkers quotes I have had so far for painting. £13k and £7k......lol. So I will be looking at other options.

Anyone know of any good body shops in the South Wales area then please let me know.
Cheers

You looking at a full respray? Is it that bad? Could you not paint those parts that need it + blend?

It's odd to say, but, bodyshops rarely machine polish as well as a detailer.

Unfortunately with a full re-spray you are looking at big money relative to the car's value.

I'm led to believe that paint on these cars is not bad as far as depth goes so unless you have bubbling or down to the metal scratches I'd go for the detailing option. I'd suspect you'd get a far superior finish with detailing than getting a spray job which isn't a full stripped back professional job.

If you do have to go for a full re-spray then I'd consult an indie that specialises in full restorations due to the car having to be fully stripped down.
This way you will have a specialist dismantling the car and a trusted contractor to carry out the re-spray.
There is a lot of labour involved in a back to the metal respray which justifies the price.
Definitely an area where you get what you pay for.
This is what I found when I looked into this. Hope it's of some use.
