Keep seeing stuff like this have the UK roads really deteriorated that much since I left 3 years ago ?
NZ roads mint even with earthquakes and no real Rail system but less than 5 million people to ware them out.

Phil I think they have got better over the past couple of years. They were really bad but councils have been forced to keep on top of the repairs due to pothole claims. You have to take it to court but they always backout on the last day and pay out.

This is what destroyed a tyre on my Volvo. The pothole was completely covered with water at the time. Having stopped to try to replace the tyre, two more cars came by (on a quiet country road) and also lost a tyre each.

We have similar pot holes in my area. Yes the roads seem particularly bad this winter - we have actually had ice and snow could this be the cause. The repairs are not much better, but having said that the council have re surfaced the road parallel to me and it is a very good job - so far

This is what took me out 2 weeks ago puncture/damage to my alloy. The highways have advised me that it will take 3 months for them to make a decision!!WP_20180126_08_53_27_Pro.jpgWP_20180126_08_54_16_Pro.jpg

Re holes.

If it is around a utility access (manhole) it falls to the utility Co to fix the problem and also answer any claims.

I had a wheel damaged which after about a month the council said the above, but also forwarded the clain to Bristol Water.

I was happy and surprise to receive a cheque just a week later without any contact at all the the water Co...I guess they are not as restricted as publicly funded organisations to hold out at all costs.

Yep!.............It was on Victoria Road (just off Liverpool Road) they filled it in the afternoon it happened. When I hit it 7:00am after a good session of rain it just looked like a puddle!WP_20180126_10_21_29_Pro.jpgWP_20180126_10_21_58_Pro.jpg
