Had been holding off putting pictures up until getting the chance to take some better ones, but still not had chance. First Maserati for me (in fact first nice car) having been promising myself one for years.
Definitely wanted a manual and fell in love with this one on first site. I liked the red stitching on black interior, presumably this was an option because not seen many with it.
Is this a car known to the forum, last owner had it a long time and seems well looked after.

Lovely looking car.
You are correct regarding the stitching...and the red pipeing, one of the cost options amongst many more.

Mine does that too !:D
Im undecided how to make good as Id like to avoid fixing it in such a way as it can never be removed again...!

If you can even get a new replacement gear knob

I have been thinking about getting one made out of billetted aluminium and put the existing gear knob "on ice" so it does not get even more scruffy.

To reinstall you need to square it up and tap with a rubber mallet... This is what I read on ML

I could live with that as a solution...Could be anodised and a badge inserted..Not OEM exactly but could live with it...The problem I suspect lies in the attachment. Its engineered with a gear like starred insert, and held with a grub screw or similar- I think. I havent looked that closely TBH. When it finally parted company with the shaft, I quickly put it back to pretend I hadnt seen it !! :D
I dont think hitting it with anything is a good plan from what Ive seen..but what do I know !?

I'll take a closer look at some point . Mine could be repaired Im sure. But a group solution along the lines of CNC might be cost effective...? The time/money goes on the modelling & program.

Read this it has some useful info http://www.maseratilife.com/forums/modern-maserati/8712-custom-billet-shift-knob.html

I was speaking to a company in Cheshire who said he is up for the challenge but would prefer to have a manual 4200 in his workshop to take accurate measurements off... Only person I know that way with a manual is @Vampyrebat

If we have a few interested it could probably happen

I recently watched an episode of wheeler dealers where they changed the gear knob on a 3200 coupe , no mention of price though , it was held on with grub screws , different to my Spyder version I think .
Mine slides over a splined notched shaft , the inside of the knob can be removed by undoing 2 screws under underneath , my inside bit was in bits , I bonded it back together and re inserted it adding a few drops of super glue to the shaft to hold it ...... lasted about 200 miles before it came loose again .
Bit more glue this time I think or maybe some locktight ???

Im sure we could better than a round ball ? ;)

Would he not be okay with an OEM part in his hands..?
I might know a man that can....
