Dicky, would you say a 4200 is easier to sell than a 3200 these days...Lots of 3200's for sale unsold for an age.....

3200's are very easy to sell when they are good ones, I have people fighting over them. Thing is, there are very few good ones around, simply not possible to find many good ones in my experience. I've sold 6 or 7 3200's in the last year or so as that's all I've been able to find. There are lots of 3200's which remain unsold usually as they're not great examples.
4200's sell very well if they're facelift or at least 'MSP' 2003 onwards cars, there's a few 2002 cars unsold that have been for sale a while. If they're cambiocorsa, good colour combo, good history and condition, they sell well.
Sorry, I'm rambling, answer to your question Andy, no, 3200's sell better if you have a good one. Never ceases to amaze me.

Part of it is due to how the models changed through production. The 3200 changed very little but the 4200 changed a lot. I had an early 4200 in 02 for about a week when my 3200 was throwing a wobbly and I thought it's handling was ****. By the time the 4200 had had it's 2005MY facelift it was a stunning vehicle but before hand it was work in progress - all IMHO but I've driven a lot of Maseratis' to come up with my views.

Depends why you buy either model. Imho the 3200 is more an enthusiasts choice , albeit with niggles/character, bit like why I drove a TVR Cerbera over a Porsche. The early 4200 looked more of a watered down version, much the same but without the lights and less leather, with different engine, therefore different driving style. Each to there own, but I can see the early 4200's slipping to below 3200's in price in years to come.

The 3200 is an enthusiast car...the tubo and lights are lovely.....

4200 is a more reliable version but looses its appeal as its not got the rear end....

Honestly?? I can see the 3200 keeping a higher value than the 4200....esp the AC......

Trouble is there a fair few high milage, of dubious quality 3200's out there dragging the perceived price down

Kind of confirms the notion that a fool and his money are easily parted. The sensible ones buy 4200/Gransport.
