I'd buy a Strad with 50k on it. Why not? Same as any other car, IMHO. If it's looked after properly should be fine. And we know that the 'base' car is good for well over 150k.

Right now I think I'm grateful that I don't want black / black and that blue is just too much. Plus I'd need to borrow someone else's calculator until I get a new role, for the running costs.....

Roll on 2020 :D

I guess what I mean is that most of us who desire Maserati .....wouldnt

Looks like they will be down to 50k soon which might be my golden number. Did you see the Saxton one now at 54k

They are already £50k, in that ‘they’ means cars not inspected and prepared correctly and ones with a load of miles, worn clutch, and ceramics approaching the end of their life etc. A good one I can’t see going lower than £55k with sub 30k miles, ever. Stuck my neck out there but it’s how I see them going.

You may be right but I reckon we will see them at 50k retail as they bottom. With MC's at 30k & looking to drop further I think we have a year or two depreciation to go before seeing a bottom & stability. IMHO of course! I'm hoping anyway.

I am looking to get into a QP GTS, MC or Strad at some point maybe next year. Depends on work, prices & stuff.

My 2p.
I recall 32/4200 going for c £12k for an average car just a few years ago and now they are slowly appreciating if they have reasonable miles.
GS went for c£20 and now those too are on the way up.
GT 4.2 I see hitting £18k in the next two years if miles are sub 60k with the 4.7 MC at mid £20s again if miles are ok.
Strad with low miles should follow the MCVs

Of course there are always exceptions in the case of good and bad cars.

Just my thoughts.

I agree with safrane....History tells us that Maserati's generally go too cheap before they find a base. There are a lot MC GTS for sale and if they hit low 20's the Strad could go to low 40's ... sorry but thats my view.

The MC Shift is the rarest of all the GTS's (apart from the Strad) Most are auto's.

Unfortunately we live in a world were most people would rather have a 996 911 over a G/S ... Values of the 996 have already firmed up and I think will soon overtake the GS....
The same for the strad... its a great car but compare it to a V10 R8 and you know where most people would put their money... The MC GTS (which I love btw) is price wise the same as a Nissan GTR... again most people will purhcase the GTR.
If there is low demand then rare is less of a factor....

4.7 sales pre the Sport coming out in autumn 2012 were pretty much equally split between the two gearboxes. It was only with the Sport that MC sales drifted away.

I think you're probably right... but only in the same way that most (i.e. more) people buy Audis, Beemers (etc) then buy Maseratis. It's a different market. Most of us on here (though I have defected) love the brand, the style, the Maserati charisma, the fact that it's not the 'obvious' choice and so on. Also, and this is really important, Maseratis do seem to be genuinely liked when you're out and about in a way that I imagine more 'obvious' cars might not be.

Perhaps best of all, this forum is a wonderful place to be (even for defectors).

This is exactly the position i'm finding myself in now.... I'm looking at GranCabrios or maybe stretch to a Stradale or an early V10 R8....

Don't agree with the GTR comment though, I try not to be a badge snob (Audi vs Maserati..) but I draw the line at a £50k+ Nissan, f*ck off.

Regarding the R8 vs Grancabrio, A comment I made to the boss the other day was "The R8 is a lot faster" her reply was "where are you going to drive that fast"
I was absolutely stumped for an answer....

Haha I currently have an r34 gtr for sale at 44500..
we all have our opinions and that’s why we are here owning Maserati’s.

I don't think the GranCabrio versus an R8 is a correct comparison.
A 2seater coupe versus a 4seater convertible.

So what are true GranCabrio contenders?
DB9 Volante or XKR Convertible for example.
Both of them are really cramped in the back.

R34 is indeed an interesting car.

If your after bang for your buck then this car has to be considered.

I know with Maserati it’s: “not about lap times, it’s about good times” but I for one have always loved the GTR (ok, maybe not the interior)

It’s an interesting proposition and one that should not be so easily dismissed.
