Please pass me the Nivea... (pic heavy)

I phyisically laughed when walking through Milton Keynes on my own recently - I'd just walked past some promotional girls all dressed up in Nivea gear and I thought of Loz - it was a couple of days after I'd secured my GranSport, finally!!

I'll keep it brief as I plan to do a more 'formal' write up at a later date, but in short, 4 years after first looking for a Maserati (a facelift 4200 at the time) I've finally bought my GranSport.

Its a late one - April 2007 (built in Feb 07), had just under 30k on it when I first saw it, two owners, full main dealer history (Maranello and Meridien) and, well, basically, if I was to score it out of 100 using my personal criteria, its probably a 98/100.

I first saw it about 6 weeks ago. I finally agreed a deal about two weeks ago, post inspection at Bill McGrath. As soon as I picked it up, it went back to McGraths to address a couple of issues and to get the 31k service carried out. I picked it up last Wed, giave it a very quick was and then Thursday, hit the road to Luxembourg....nothing like a little gentle run to break it in.

I was holding back so I could show the car to my family before posting up here, but in the hope that the dont frequent sports maserati.com, having already been spotted (literally, the first time I drove it any distance in the daylight!) I thought I'd take the plunge. As they say, pictures paint a thousand words, so here you go......

A quick wash while the sun shines then up to the local greenery

What a place to be! One of the 100 was lost for the dash being beige, causing reflections at night....but I'll get over that as its not too bad in reality.

In some place the a rse end of nowhere in Belgium. Seriously, no clue where as we let the sat nav find us somewhere for lunch! Beautiful place and I dazzled my missus with mon Francais. Or not.

And then, just to underline quite how cold it was on the mainland, here's a pic of the new toy in a relatively unfamiliar setting.

So, having had the car for around 2 weeks and having told pretty much no one (pretty much no one, eh Dem? ;)), I'm about fit to burst! Seriuously, most of you lads have been down this route - you get the car, you want to pick it up, right?

Well, I found the car, arranged for the inspection (took nearly two weeks due to the M1 being CLOSED the day of the first appointment - you couldnt make it up), then adding the time to work out what really needed doing on the list and what was just McGraths being thorough.....then picking the car up in the dark and in the ice, and THEN having to wait for the car to be serviced, it really has taken an age to get the car close to being right and in the driveway.

As it is, I still want to give it a good wash (clay bar etc) so am willing the weather to get better. Until then, I'll keep myself happy with the sound. Ooooh, the sound.....

As I said, I will do a more complete write up at some point soon....

Cheers
Woody

Massive congratulations Woody on such a long and thorough search. She looks gorgeous!
Thanks bud. The search was off for most of the time I had the M3 (2.5 years) but the hunger was always there! :)

My hunt has been called off for a while. I got really fed up with searching & looking at cars which were over priced or poorly maintained. Really not sure what to do now and am rethinking the whole plan. I think GS values are due a drop as GT prices are coming down by the month. I'm now thinking I will either wait another year and buy a GT or GTS when they appear in my price range, or buy a 3200AC as a future classic.

Yep, a GT-S would be nice..the sound on those is sublime. I know what you mean re finding one that has been looked after - they're not as common as you'd think! As for GT-S prices, I think its a while before they come down into the £30k's. The good thing is, there's loads more GT-S than GS's so the choice will be greater and hopfully the prices more reasonable!

Completely delighted for you Woody. I know from your posts on the forum that you have been searching diligently for some time awaiting a car that meets all (or almost all) of your criteria. Just goes to show that all good things come to those who wait. She looks a lovely example and I'll hope to see her at some point in the not too distant future.

Hope the weather cheers up for you so you can get her looking just as you want.

Congratulations! Regards, Miles.

Isnt quite the perfect plate, the picture is doctored just a bit. It doesnt sit on the car like that sadly as WOODY isnt a valid combination for a UK plate. Its as close as I could get though.
