Potentially stupid question - Opening Boot with NO battery connected

Hi

So, I've a flat battery having not driven the Mas for almost a month.

I was thinking of removing the battery, connecting it to a charger and then replacing it. Will the boot lock open on a turn of the key in the lock without the battery connected?

I cannot leave the battery in the car as I live in London and the car is parked on the road.

Cheers

Pretty sure it will open mechanically without power. You can also be safe and just sit the boot down gently without it closing. Still looks closed but isn't unless someone leans on it.

Boot lock works without the battery but they sometimes can be quite stiff as they don't get used much. Try it first and if sticky get some WD40 on it

Yes same as Zagatoes30 said, key will open it without power, I broke a key on my book lock so WD40 tip is a good one

Put some downward pressure on the boot lid too as the 'snug' fit against the seals puts pressure on the lock and also the key when trying to unlock

All good advice - might be an idea to lubricate the locks before they are needed...

I've had the same problem on both a Maser and a Mercedes, and in both cases the lock was pretty much seized, having (I guess) never been used in its entire life, and due to their position, they collect all the road dirt going. Since then, I've cleaned them and lubed them up when I've taken delivery of another car.
