QP 4.7

I am a few months shy of buying another QP, this time a 4.7!

Would love to know whether there are any common but different faults allied to this engine rather than the 4.2?

For example, are variations an issue on all years or where they corrected after a certain year?

Variators were an issue on mine. I think you are safe from 2011 any engine number from >148697

What are the symptoms of failure?
It is varied but in the main if you leave it for a while (my case a week or so) when you start there is a brief rattle as oil gets back up to the top of the motor. Oil starvation wears the variators and eventually they rattle a lot. I caught mine very early as aware it could be an issue and had machining done before there was variators damage so cost was a lot less. No issues since.

Interesting. See I have seen a couple 10-11' cars, none of which mention variatior work. So engine number is the most likely method for identifying a car with the issue/potential issue,

Wonder what sort of order they built and fitted the engines in? My 2010 QP has engine no 149647.....

Well when I had my GT S, the dealer told me it was a late 09' car built with early 08' parts! It was actually one of the last GT S's pre facelift and 4.7, to be built, so I suspect it was assembled with 'left-overs'!

Epic machine all the same but I crave that deeper 4.7s grunt!

Ah, well, I don't need that as my boys are all grown up. You should buy it and then sell me yours.
Rockits bought a QP that I had looked at with some sort of games console built in.
