I understand Maserati concluded that engineering the 4WD system for RHD was too expensive initially. Maybe they will revisit that decision if demand for a 4WD version in RHD markets grows, but most countries that drive on the left don't have a climate that demands 4WD often or at all!

It's a marketing position mistake IMHO. If you notice the amount of boggo BMWs with the wee X-Drive badge on there, they really would have accessed a different market with 4WD. All of a sudden it becomes a usable daily in all weathers, even if winter tyres actually make 4WD a little redundant.

I think we'll see the 4WD version here in the next couple of years.

I agree completely. 4WD might put me in a Ghibli/QP as all our other cars are 4WD and I need to remember that when I drive the Maser!

There are loads of XDrive three series BMWs up here in Scotland now. Shame they don't do it in the 5, 6, & 7 range.

PS Your winter tyre point is spot on. I have them on the Maser four months of the year and it makes the car very driveable in low temps/wet/snow etc but 4WD with winter tyres would be better.

BMW tried the same argument but gave up in the end. Hope Maserati do too.
