Rear door issues...

A small issue, joined by a medium sized issue, means I'll have to take action!

One rear door has child-lock off, but still won't open from inside despite fiddling with the plastic knob on the jamb (ooo-err). Opens from outside find. Now the other rear door has decided it won't open with the outside handle, either with soft-open or old fashioned push button. This door has child locks off too but does open from inside. Occasionally it works, like about one in 20.

Anything I should go for before I rip the door cards off?

If its the same lock as the front and on the 4200 it will either be:
a) Jiggered
b) Rod fallen off

Either way, door card off I am afraid. On the GT there is a big rubber grommet on the door shut by the captive lock/catch, if you have one too might be worth removing it and looking inside to see if you can see anything amiss.

Thought as much, I think I'll get some new water shield things too, one on driver door was well jiggered, ripped and torn - got a replacement one, only 15 quid which is pretty cheap even though it's just some waterproof fabric. Still never fixed my driver window opening/closing issue....

Though I'm thinking too this happened after battery was off for a bit, and the boot opening (long press on fob) isn't working 100% reliably. Maybe try another reset...

I have to get my passenger door sorted - believe its the rod has pulled out of the inside door handle. If anyone could post very simple instructions preferably with pics for removing the door card I would be very grateful

This is for the front door card, hopefully it should help get you started (btw I have used these instructions a couple times to remove my front door cards and they work perfectly):

  1. Pull off the little triangle by the mirror
  2. Pull off the red reflector bottom left
  3. Pull off the black trim under the arm rest. I start by prising my fingers underneath to the right
  4. Pull off the red leather piece that covers the grab handle. It also covers a bit forward of the handle as well.
  5. Pull off the little rubber cover behind the silver handle.
  6. Undo 5 hex bolts. One bolt behind reflector, one under the black trim to the left , one behind the pull handle and two holding the grab handle.
  7. Pull the door card from below and prise it away from the door. Lift it up as you pull
  8. Once the card is away from the door you'll be able the see the cable. Reattach it
  9. Refit is reverse of removal. Hook the card on the door. Then use a torch and a screwdriver to lever the little Christmas tree fittings into place. Start at the top and work down. Once they are in place push them home
