Hi all,

The rear heated window on my 2008 QP is not working and I was looking for some advice of what to do and who is best to fix it (South East/West England)

I have had the car into a main dealer but they want 3 hours labour charge to remove the rear seats to get to the wiring so it can be checked ! The heated window is covered under warranty but not the wiring so if it proves to be the window after the 3 hours investigation then the warranty company pays for everything, however it is the wiring then I pay.

I was really looking to see if anybody has had experience of a failed rear heated window that they could share and or who I should take the car to to confirm it is the window or the wiring without charging me for 3 hours main dealer costs.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Colin

I would start with the fuse and go from there. Also, put a voltmeter on the window terminals and see if there is any power getting to them. If there is, it's the window, of not it might not be. Then put the voltmeter on continuity and put a probe on one side of the window and one on the other and see if you get a beep. If yes, than at least one element is ok, if no beep it's the window. That should give you an idea of what you have got.

I would have thought it would be more of a problem on a 3200. They would then have to wear gloves to keep their hands warm while pushing! :)

pushing a 3200! paaah would never happen, would just leave it at the roadside :) On my 3200 the rear window heater has not worked since I got the car 5 years ago. I had no power at the window, replaced the relays and a couple of fuses, and got power at the wires leading to the window, and discovered the bonded contact onto the window elements had come loose. i am in the process of trying to repair it. the bonded connection could be seen by prizing the rear window cover back just a little. I have ignored it as the AC unit clears the window so quickly any way.
