Replacement wing mirror glass for pre-facelift QPV

Asking for the forum’s knowledge on this one. I want to replace the glass only on my right side wing mirror as the current mirror glass seems to be going milky.

I have found some replacement glasses on the web and one claims that it can be equally fitted on the right hand side or the left hand side.

Speaking with Scuderia, they say there are different part numbers and not sure if you can simply rotate the mirror glass by 180 degrees to fit either side. As these are the self-dimming variety, he said the location of the connector plug might be a problem.

Any views on whether a mirror glass can be fitted to both left and right?

Here are some pics, but can’t tell from these if the glass is a symmetrical shape on the x-axis…

Hmm, it does actually look like it might be. Rote 180 degrees. Connector will be inboard.

Is it cheap enough to risk? Are you confident it's actually the right shape as well?

Just cut and solder the wires/extend if necessary that’s just a heated mirror so it’s +/- in any direction to make a circuit.

If it had more wires it would be the chromostatic self dimming one.

I got round this by buying the cheap glass off eBay, pealing the glass off it and sticking it to the origional base

You just need to buy the chromo or non chromo glass.

There is also the blue tint and non tint version too

Here is the guy I use, contact him and tell him what you need. He also sends the heat pad and mount separate so you can choose which way round it goes

So your options are:
Blue tint or plain
Heated (2 wires)
Heated and chromostatic (4 wires)

From memory
QP is same as 4200 and Alfa 166

GT is same as Alfa 159/Brera

Matt, that’s fantastic - thank you so much.

Good to see forum still working to supply parts knowledge.
The approach used by Matt makes more sense, get the mirror heater pad and clamp plate. all separate and assemble to suit.

Replaced my own QPV drivers side glass several years back, and kept the box "just in case" (details of supplier). The OEM part was amazingly expensive for the photo chromatic item ( £900+). Bought blue tint item for about twenty quid, still happy.
