Replacing the EPB Unit on a Ghibli

Hi, I'm told that the EPB has failed on my 64 Ghibli and that to replace the unit is very expensive and the diff has to be dropped. Is this right?

That's correct I have done one.
It's very straightforward and the diff comes down easily on a lift and using a hydraulic jack stand.

Never had one apart but I know repair kits with better quality components are available for the ones on Range Rovers.
