Stupid question.

I've seen quite a few photos of the 4200 reverse panel showing 2 screws, one either side of the panel. I'm assuming they are to secure the unit to the car?

Mine does not have these, did they come about on face-lift models or are they aftermarket mods?

When I select reverse the whole unit does feel like it lifts up.

Can this be rectified?

Cheers.

From memory, my 4200 was 'clipped' in and if an 'over-agressive' person tried to engage reverse the whole 'oval' popped out. Looking at this early spyder, it too has the screw heads but I don't remember them being there on my 2003 4200. What year is yours?

2003.

I'm gentle doing it, but it does detract from the overall feel.

It is just plastic clips holding it in place I'm told.

Sounds a touch cheap.

Cheers :)

Just edited my intial reply with what was a change between MY2002 Spyder and the 2003 Coupe and you can see the difference between Manufacturing years. Maybe too many 'gorillas' have been driving your car in its past and have loosened the clips. It does pop out easily enough and you might be able to investigate further.

I'm also mulling over whether to get it hydrodipped or not to match my other interior pieces. May aswell consider it whilst my interior is somewhat apart.
