Running cost of a GT4

Hi,

Hi,

I am currently about to buy a Maserati GT4, however, I cannot find much about the running cost of the car. Regarding engine, gearbox, Etc. Does Anyone perhaps know more about this?

You will struggle as not many about especially in road trim. I take it this is StuartW car. If so I am very jealous. Pretty sure Stuart’s is a one off.

The maintenance will be time driven, so you’ll need to know what has been done and when to work out how much it’s going to cost you in the future. I’m sure Stuart will be able to tell you what the maintenance schedule is but I’d expect the seller to be able to tell you that straight off.

How long is a piece of string? Also, you will use it on track but how? If you are doing track days, the costs are tiny compared to full blown historic racing. If you “life” the components, you will be in for a nasty surprise cost wise. Also, I guarantee you the morons in Modena would not be able to supply you with spares, thus you would have to have the resources/find the crazy specialist who is willing to help you out. Finding suitable uniballs for your wishbones could be a long and thankless task for example. If you change the parts when they need changing, it could be very reasonable for a relatively fast modern classic race car. A Maserati GT4, performance wise is on par with a 997.1 and 997.2 Cup car in the right hands.

Your best bet for super accurate running costs is based in the USA. His name is Chris Coffey of Norwood Auto Italia. He has been successfully racing a pair of GT4 cars for a season and has actually won his class against some pretty decent opposition in the TransAm Pirelli Series.

Put your speakers volume up and enjoy the ride…
