Seagulls a valet's nightmare

Ive actually done similar years ago in Milton Keynes , a regular daily dog walker who allowed there dog to regularly deposit its night before meal on my grass verge ,exact same place every day , ( when asked if they could kindly make sure they do it somewhere else she raised her arms and said if he gets caught short what can i do) , a few days later I caught them doing the same thing , but armed with the grandkids plastic spade I lifted said turds caught her up 30 yds down the road and neatly placed it in her shopping bag , never ever saw them again .............so it works ..........now i just really dont need the confrontation at my age

I watched a guy stop and let his dog take a dump on the garden in front of the house. I think it happens all day, everyday tbh…. He was looking right at me, grinning FFS. I literally work with my hands in the dirt, right there..! Smiling at me like it’s ok, normal. Like I’m not bigger, stronger and faster than his dumb a5s..! I was stupefied into inaction, so I guess he was right…
There are footpaths within tens of yards, into rural countryside. What the actual fcuk is wrong with them…? They probably dive under the covers to smell their own farts too….

I love dogs, and would love to own one ( actually quite close to buying one soon as it will make me go out and exercise ) but thats one of the things which puts me off , I know I would be manic about how it might impact on others ........love to get a couple of Westies or a cockapoo

I enjoy cycling. The amount of dog **** is revolting in some of the places I frequent. Thetford forest for example.
Folk alight with their precious cargo: the first thing the dog does is dump in the car park. I swear, I run over it in the van parking. Step in it as I get the bike out. Or ride through it at some point, flinging it off the wheels until I smell it for the rest of the day.
Tarring all dog owners with the same brush is not cool. I get it. Just be respectful, I’m sure you know how to do that, right..?. Most folk are oblivious it seems….

Never leave home without a few Tesco scented nappies sacks to collect the dogs poop, even in the fields and woods I own. We even collect all the horse poop to ensure the paddock is safe for all.

There is no excuse.

I had neighbours who fed the herring gulls and rats twice a day with meat from the local butcher (saving the butcher the cost of disposing the meat that had gone beyond its date). This went on for years, but miracle upon miracle, they decided to move. The entire area celebrated.

There is a lot of info on the internet about what you can do to stop people bird feeding. Take photos/videos of them feeding birds, the mess, damage to blocked gutters, videos of rats, birds lined up shrieking from the rooftops every 5am etc. You can ask your local council to investigate the feeding as it is a Statutory Nuisance. You need 3 neighbours to complain to the council at the same time with evidence. The council can then serve an abatement notice on the miscreant to stop feeding the shitehawks.

Thats exactly what we have, naturally these gulls have absolutely no reason to be this far inland , its become habit for them , the early morning screeching calls to be fed , sitting on ours and the neighbours chimney pots and telegraph poles, just the pure numbers and their presence is enough to keep the general bird population scarce in numbers which is a shame because they can give so much enjoyment

I know I will sound completely mad, but I have spent a lot of time observing gulls’ habits down on the south coast. Bearing in mind they can live to about 20, they are as clever as crows. They can also follow a gaze i.e. if you are looking at something they are smart enough to study what it is. Something to do with stealing others’ food sources. I am convinced that when they can’t work out what something is, they deliberately poo on it. Like a test of let’s see what their reaction is and whether the human has something edible or perhaps there is a new shiny pond of drinking water.

So, as per the thread heading, they are an utter nightmare when you finish drying a car off and they start lurking around high above in the sky. I usually get the car back into the garage while it is still wet. Otherwise, they spot you are paying attention to something mysteriously shiny and will fire off a white splat. My brand new 458 was christened by a gull on its first journey home - the roof was down, but by some miracle it hit the bonnet, missed the interior and then caught the back of the car.

I can see myself doing one of two things if it persists (a) either lose interest in keeping cars nice (b) Building a covered car port as an approach and attached to the garages , tinkering with cars has been a hobby forever its in my DNA so it will most likely be plan B

Hey Loz, yeah long time - fell off the forum after selling my GS (the unmodded grey one) and buying a 4C, but back now! Hope you and the SO are doing good. When I get round to it I'll post some old pics, I've got some of you and others from when we went to Donnington a few years ago.

As if the problem is not bad enough here in Lowestoft , some idiot council officials have just agreed to this ,


god knows why the first 2 stationed a few hundred metres out at sea have been a total disaster and not used at all , they even installed at a cost of £35K 20 pairs of plastic Kittywakes in the hope they would attract the real thing but to no avail ...........its madness of the highest order and just a waste of Council tax money to maintain them , add in the huge sandbank they have created which will eventually be swept towards the harbour
