Secondary cat delete

Hi all,
I have a 2006 GranSport that I am absolutely loving. I am looking at various exhaust mods such as secondary cat delete (I have the Euro 4 exhaust system with 4 cats) or potentially an unresonated x-pipe.
I have heard good things about the secondary cat delete as it allows the engine to breathe better without the cats and the "squish" section rectified - but am wondering if it is legal in NSW.
If I went ahead with it, I would keep my original pipes, but am more concerned with insurance in the event of an accident - could they deem the car illegal and not honor the claim? Does anybody have any knowledge or experience?
Many thanks!
