Shape of a pre facelift 2013

Dear Enthusiasts:

As some of you will know I have been looking for a GT for a while. I have learned a great deal from the forum, general reading, and great guys such as Richard Grace.

I was in an MD recently discussing a 2013 which is pre facelift.
They told me that it was the 'new shape' and different to the 2012 on the forecourt.

Is this true? There was a difference on the front bumper as it seemed to have small side splitters (which looked nice) , but nothing else to my eye.

Are the 2009-2013 (pre facelift) MC Shifts essentially the same aesthetically?

I was quite surprised at their lack of knowledge - they hadn't even heard of variators or x-pipes amongst a plethora of other things.
And it was concerning when they couldn't even find the stamps in the service book....:beat_brick::beat_brick:

Bet that was Cardiff...they are new and when I went there they weren't knowledgeable. There was only one facelift which was the bumper change at the front, different style wheels and different seats...I think power went up by 10 bhp as well...facelift was 2013/14 model year I believe.

They need to set up a high speed rail link between Richard Grace, Autoshield, Meridian Modena and the rest of the UK.

There is a high speed link already. It's a Maserati GTS and a heavy right foot.

I don't agree with you about the GT Sport looking better but we are all different! Anyway it is very colour dependent IMHO as dark colours hide the truly awful side splitters - Stradale is a much better update of the standard shape to my eye.

Yep the facelift came in for September 2012 production onwards and the GTS was renamed 'GT Sport'. Spec changes as per what Andy as said with the addition of a more chunk steering wheel. There are much fewer MC Shifts around post facelift than pre so if you find what you want snap it up

As for exhaust changes, these would invalidate a Maserati warranty which explains the lack of dealer interest - GTS/GT Sport sound fine without changes - and many cars would have dropped out of the dealer network by variator time.

PS On reflection not sure whether you are talking about the small winglets on each side of the nose on some model year pre-facelifts or the flip ups on the post-facelifts? The passenger side dash will state what the car is, 'GTS' or 'GT Sport'.

Agreed, I think the pre-facelift nose was much more elegant than the newer one, which is nice but just seems to be trying too hard. I also think the Stradale exhaust configuration and splitter is a bit much. Being clear, I wouldn't turn one down, but I can't help but feel that a less cluttered design would have been more in-keeping with the lines of the GTS/Sport/whatever. It seems a bit incongruous to me, like it's been grafted on.
