Steam clean underside

Speaking to a hgv and taxi steam cleaning firm this morning the guy said he would like to warn me about the possibility of steam entering the engine compartment and causing electrical failure. I emphasized I only wanted the suspension and body structure/wheel arches doing, the intention being to get this done as a standalone before a rust proofing treatment. Has anyone had problems like this ?

Not a Maserati I know but I had the T5 undersealed when I took ownership of it a few years back..
The guy doing the work was also the contractor for the Council's work on the steam cleaning of the refuse fleet. It is a reasonable expectation to want to clean it before sealing it IMO.
Of course he's warning you...Its **** covering. If they're any good, Id expect them to know where they cannot effectively take the process for fear of damage, and inform you accordingly.... If they arent confident, find someone who is ?

I came across this when living in Germany.

They can clean motors etc in situ, with no issue to electronics.

Steam cleaning is kind of archaic, and problematic in comparison.

There are a number of firms doing this in the UK too (alas for me none convenient to London).
