Just over a week of my 30's left as I hit the 40 barrier on 1st April (yes, I have heard it all before but it's a great day to have a birthday on).

Must admit it's been the best decade so far for me, good job, wife, family and of course, Maserati ownership and meeting all you guys.

I dont feel down at all about 40 sort of proud really, so come on guys who are already there any advise or what to expect (what bits of my body will fail first?)

Hard to say with your line of work Mat , repetitive strain syndrome possibly , ive got that in both arms/ wrists , Doctors put it down to using a cordless for too long each day, i put it down to wankiing, was on my own for 10 years bringing up the boys hehehe, if only the Doc knew hehhehe enjoy it mate , dont think you'll feel any different , just that you think you ought to feel more grown up and adult never happened in my case and im in the mid fifties

I'm now in the twilight years of my 40s and it's been an Ok decade for me so far. I'm more or less intact, apart from the fact that my eyes are going, my hair is too knackered to reach the very top so it's coming out of my ears instead and gravity is starting to overcome muscle tone. Also, I find that if I do a bit of hard physical work, everything hurts and if I tear one off, hangovers are a real ***** and can last for days. Generally, everything you used to be good at, well, not so much any more. So, enjoy you 40s Matt and remember; on April 2nd you will be nearer 50 than 30. Have fun! Oh, and happy birthday! P.s, if you need someone to kick your chair away give me a bell, because i've been waIting 8 years for someone to kick mine away!

They do say youth is wasted on the young. Do what I did Matt have a new baby at 41, that will keep you feeling young. If I am honest the last ten years have been the best ever, life really can begin at 40. You are a lot wiser and know what you like/want and hopefully have a little cash spare to buy a nice maserati.....

Matt, 40's are the best years for:

Insurance
Indulgence
Inspiration

Don't waste it...

Before you know it it will be;

Insomnia
Indescision
Incontinence!!!

I'm 46 and knackered knees, 19 stone & the hair is galloping backwards; the only saving grace is that mine lasted longer than all my brothers!

That is on my mind, the baby thing. Got 2 girls, need a young petrol head to carry on this forum when I am gone. Rach is only a year behind be so the window is shutting, or I could chop her in for a younger model....only kidding sweetie!

The only thing that worries me about my 40's is all these reports of bits falling off and the body packing up, is it really that bad?

So far, my eye sight is spot on, always has been, struggle a little to stay on the right side of 14 stone, its like lard tennis. Joints are fine and run regularly, although I might give this up as its so bad on the knees.

Theres still hope for us all:

There are only 2 bad things about turning 40:

The first one is that your memory starts to go
The second one is....err......bear with me.....no, I've forgotten....

I have to agree with Andrew, 20's were just one drunken blur after another, with a revolving door of girlfriends and not much cash and a poo car. Ok, the old body was in better shape, but the 20's were shallow years....enjoy them!

Well i have 10 years to go before im 40!!
Hoping my 30s will be better luck than my 20s...
I had fun the last 10 years, more than most i know but had a good business to go run everyday and physchologically i put my happiness down to knowing where my money was coming from and in some months loads of it...not bad when 23...
Now im starting married life with new house being talked about by mother in law and a family will soon follow so my goal is to get into something quick so i too can relax a little in my 40s.....
