At the risk of starting a fight, What is the point of a caravan?

Well I can only speak for us but here goes
1. We have a disabled boy who likes routine, he has got use to the caravan so no matter where we go he settles immediately whereas hotels /cottages it takes him 3 days of angst
2. We have the flexibility to go where we want and stay as long as we want with all our own stuff
3. Once pitched everything we need is there and it doesn't need to be repacked until we move on
4. Most sites have similar people to us, many with children, who all play together - some days we only see them as they whizz by in with a group of other kids
5. It's relaxing, you spend time in your own place at your own pace including your own car
6. It's cheap, about £20 per night for a serviced pitch for all 5 of us (cheaper in Europe)
Ultimately you either get it or you don't, both wife and I caravanned with parents when we were children and things have moved on so much more from those days, services, facilities, standards all much better.
