Hi Guys,

Just been looking for a little while now, but I suspect the Throttle Pot is going in the 3200…..I understand there is a contactless one to replace it, but what is the Chaps name who does it? and roughly how much does it cost? I may as well do both the Pot and the TB….

There are a few options.
Mike at the Maserati Shed
The guy in the Holland 'Boomerang'
and I think a UK forum member also does them. But cant recall his name

I had boomerangs fitted to my car and it was faultless

I think he has done some upgrades to it since mine

A few weeks turnaround but great service

Thanks for the quick reply guys,

Does he have a website and roughly how much does it cost? These are the contactless ones that are supposed to be a complete fix correct?

I also am in front if the same dilemma. I contacted Boomerang, but he either responds 2 weeks later, or doesn't respond at all. Who in the UK does the same job? One of the last episodes of "Wheeler Dealers" was dedicated to the 3200 and there was a UK guy there, that has done that job very nice. Anyone knows him?

Yes the only person in the UK who actually is approved to refurbish/upgrade the Throttle Body by Maserati UK is Mike Roberts. His charges are £399 to upgrade your TB to a contactless type and will guarantee it for 1 year. There is also another member on here Bill who does the same work but last I heard he had problems sourcing the sensors....

If you want to change the actual pedal pot you have two options 1) replace with the same Bosch unit BUt they are very rare and the one which was replaced on the Wheeler Dealer car has to be made specially in a batch as there were none in the country. Ask Mike Roberts he will more than likely be able to source you one 2) contact Davy on here who makes a different solution and that is a completely different pedal sensor which he has himself engineered and built to a very high specification which will outlive the car....

I hope that helps some of you.

Hi Guys

I am still making the sensors, although still not keeping up on stock like our dutch friend! PM me if you are interested i will see what i have. The only change I have done is improved the spring rates as this was the only objection. The rest if it has been pretty good, i certainly have not seen any issues with the 20 or so i have made and sold. I still do this as a service to other owners since i don't really need the money. For forum members I still will guarantee it for as long as you own the car as it should outlive the car easily.

I charge £350 plus shipping. I can send you an installation sheet which has pictures of the install procedure and the device itself. pedal sensor.jpg
I can get them made in around 3 weeks these days.

I use David Askew in the UK for all the 3200s I look after and have never had an issue. The customer service is very good and they actually get tested on a rig and car before being returned to me. I would beware of going anywhere which claims they improve the contacts on the board. 2 cars so far came in on the back of recovery trucks due to the TB not working thanks to the refurbers damaging the boards with uneccessary soldering. My shocks also get done through David Askew. He can also offer 24hr turnaround when things aren't too hectic. He started doing the TBs and shocks for me towards the end of 2000 so he has plenty of experience. He also can refurb Ferrari shocks if anyone has one of them too in their garage! Happy motoring!
