I am looking for a Nero Carbonia bonnet to fit my 2008 QPV, must be undamaged, paintwork in vgc and not require a respray.

If anyone has one or know of anywhere that is breaking a Nero Carbonia QPV then please let me know.

Cheers.

Is yours beyond repair? My experience trying to find parts...... difficult, and rarely as advertised !! A 'black' bumper I purchased was rattle canned over the original green :(

You could try eurospares : https://www.eurospares.co.uk/CarsBreaking but you need to be quick as the popular parts get snapped up early

My bonnet has at some point in the past had some repair / paintwork that either was not that great to start with or has degraded over time, it looks ok when freshly polished until you look closer. Big case of wishful thinking I know but I thought maybe I could buy a good secondhand one cheaper than getting mine resprayed by a decent body shop!. I was just trying my luck really to see if anyone was breaking one that had perhaps been rear ended.

Unless you have some serious damage I think it would be much easier to get the bonnet repainted properly.

Any used bonnet will have marks, and that's before removing it and then shipping it to you... you will probably end up painting that one too.

I had some paint on one of my cars and it looks better than new, and no stone chips as well.

I’m sure you are right, it was just a thought that someone might be breaking a car and have a good condition one that I could replace mine with.

I did contact them and as it happens they do have a secondhand Nero Carbonia black QPV bonnet in stock, but they want £835 for it and recommend that it should be repainted.

Perhaps I was being a bit naive but I did not expect it to be that much and still require painting so I will just look into getting my existing bonnet resprayed - I would like to think I could get this done for less than £500 for a half decent job?

Hmmm my bumper was done this spring on the XC90 and that was a grand, with only a very small mark.

Paint cost have doubled in the last 2 years.

Yes I could have had it done cheaper or even a smart repair, but you get what you pay for.

A good paint job on a bonnet on a QPV would be £800+vat for me, and I’m up north with connections. I wouldn’t trust anyone who says they’ll do it for £500 to be honest. Where in the country are you @Harvey_Tim?

South coast. To be honest half decent would be fine, I’m not looking for a Maserati approved body shop I just want the bonnet to polish up like the rest of the car, currently it’s quite flat almost like they forgot the clear coat, looks fine from a few feet but not on closer inspection.

Car is a cat d hence I cannot justify spending too much as it’s unlikely to put any value into the car, this is why I was hoping that I could just buy a reasonable second hand bonnet to replace it.

Its been a long time since I last had any spray work done on a car, guess things have changed and my expectations don’t match reality!

I had front bumper , x1 front wing and bonnet painted , would have been £800 but the wing and bumper needed a lot more prep than expected so £1000 in.
Warwickshire, he's a one man band in a small unit so none of the large overheads.
Paint match is excellent, couldnt be happier, I'll be back next year for rear bumper and side skirts.

Now that’s exactly the sort of place I am looking for - shame Warwickshire is so far from Portsmouth but I will try and find a similar outfit near me … I have been given some leads now to investigate.

It's amazing how costs have risen so much over the last 10 years but maybe it's just me getting Old.
Recently paid just under €500 to get a cylinder head pressure tested and refaced.
Taking into account the costs of being in business and just doing a search on premises you can see why.
A lot of money has to come in just to cover overheads before you can pay yourself.
