My dealer warranty is coming to an end and Momentum are offering to extend it for £880. This seems way to good to be true and of the £2k of work needed this year (cam, trans, and power steering gaskets and seals) none of the issues were covered.

Thoughts?

Had aftermarket warranty last 3 years ran out in April and decided not to renew.

They made a profit on me. One of those things isn’t it, Sod’s law my gearbox or
Engine will launch itself into space now lol.

For £73 a month it’s worth considering but as you say a lot of stuff isn’t covered. Also check restrictions is wear and tear cover included and look at betterment clause.

It’s always a wash up will I won’t I.

Get the AA break down insurance for c£110. Covers breakdown cost up to £500 and no limit on claims. You will need to demonstrate the car has been service as per manufacturers recommendations if you wish to renew after each year.

Self-insure. Claimable events are pretty rare; most issues are wear and tear, hence not covered. You're mostly buying peace of mind. It's unlikely you'll win over the warranty companies in the long run, and you can probably live with the risk of the worst case scenario.
