Will A Maserati Gran Turismo Fit In My Budget?

Hey all,

I have just sold my car today, and am in the market for a new car! I am looking for a comfortable GT cruiser, that has a wonderful soundtrack, drives nice and effortlessly and has a very lush interior.
The Maserati Gran Turismo seems to tick all of these boxes!

Now I have a few questions if I may.

1. Is £28k enough to get me in to a good condition low mileage Gran Turismo 4.2 Automatic
2. What are maintainence costs like, say compared to german cars?
3. Is there a comprehensive list of buying checkpoints / essential options on these cars?

And anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks all!

A big warm welcome...

1. Yes....high miles ones start at 22k.
2. Running cost I believe will be higher but sure someone will confirm
3. Again lots to look out for and you'll get great advice from owners when they see this.

Buy wisely and you'll love it.....

Give Richard Grace Cars a call he will give you the low down and answers you are looking for.

They are not cheap to run as it is relative to their original cost so expect c £1500 - £3000 pa to keep it tip top and some years you may get lucky.

Lots of 4.2s out there so be picky and make sure the variators are covered wither by being done or allow £3k war chest.

Hi, I gave Richard a call, he stated he no longer gets the 4.2 in due to the variator issue but is happy to keep his eye open in case he spots anything.
Ahh that maintenance pa does not seem to bad at all!

Mr Toretto,

My 4.7 MC Shift is for sale and not far from your 4.2 budget! Low mileage with the major jobs done.

Hi, your car is lovely! Unfortunately it is too far out of budget and I would not want to insult you with an offer far out from your asking price. Thanks though!

My thinking would be that a car being advertised for just under 31K would easily go for 30K, probably even £29K.... if £1-2K of a stretch is to much, perhaps maintenance could be challenging for you if you don't do the work yourself.

Its a buyers market at any rate- who wants to buy a £30K car (any brand) when you can get such good lease/PCP deals at the moment...

Genuinely with the greatest respect if I couldn't raise my budget £2-3K for the right car I'd seriously consider other options than a Maserati.

I tend to agree with the above, MGT car is near enough future proofed to an extent. If you get a clutch in your first year you have already used 2 years worth of maint money....I would be making an offer, it wouldn’t be an insult, it’s a starting point in negotiations...

I think the same could be said for a lot of other marques as well.

It depends in which German car you mean. If it is a VW, then its going to cost a shed load more than that. If its a Porsche, then it may well cost less from what I understand.

Even if you live your life a quarter mile at a time, the most important thing is to buy wisely. Cars with the variators done, new clutches and a brakes (although the cost of brakes is likely to reduce soon) means that you will be insulated from these costs initially.
