I have a second set on the Alfa, as they normally go less diameter and width,( 17s with higher profile as opposed to 18s and 225 instead of 235, or something like that.) Although on Maserati fitment this may be limited.

I have them on my Ghibli. A work colleague hasn't on his. The difference is staggering.
I put them on 1 set of rims (looked into a spare set but was too expensive). I have the 20". Michelin Alpins on the rear and Vredestein snow trac on the front. They are all winter so not concerned about different brands

Sorry thought I'd posted this here - but it's in the 'jokes' section too.
I'm considering buying a second hand set of wheels to put winters on. I've got a Sport GTS QPV so assume I need to stick with 20" because of the larger discs.*
There's a set on eBay 20" Astro 8.5 & 10.5 with 37.5 & 52 offsets. Would these be compatible with my car. Are they all the same stud fixings?
EBay item number is 182780217480.

Thanks
Ian.

To answer my own question, the answer is 'No'. The 37.5 offset is not compatible - I think this is Granturismo spec rims. I need 50.5 & 52. There are a few on eBay I'll make some enquiries.
Cheers

GT wheels are fully compatible with the QP ones, and with the 380 brakes you should be able to run 19†since the 4.7s models have that brake set-up and came standard with the 19â€. And experts say that a softer ride is better in rainy conditions, so you actually would be better of with the 19â€.

Oh Ok - cool, thanks for the info Ralph. That opens it up a bit. I'm just paranoid that I get a set and I've got one measurement I've missed that messes the whole set up. I'll double check everything, the 19" option makes sense too.
Cheers

20" GTS alloys on my QP and they fit perfectly, and I also run 295 section on the rear with no clearance issues

Nice Andy,
I'm already running these 20" on my GTS and the rears are 295 also.
Anyone know if on the 19" they have to be 285 or OK at 295 also?

Cheers
Ian

On the (US) Maserati-life forum, ErikDiSomma is running 325's on 19†so 295 should fit. However, I was under the impression that you were looking for winter tyres, so unless you want to take up sleighing, stick to the 285

Well took the plunge yesterday.
4x19" rims on their way from Italy - cheaper to pay in Euro than £'s ??
4 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's on their way from Mytyres.co.uk.
All expected to arrive about the same time next week, so get the sun cream out, I suspect Winter has just finished and we'll have the warmest spring ever recorded............ ?! you wait..

Cheers
Ian.

That's crazy. You're causing an imbalance, there is not reason why the fronts could not lose tractions and it's game over. I'd urge you to change them too.

I was going to make the same point. If the conditions merit summer tyres you should have them on both axles, if the conditions merit winter tyres you should have them on both axles, anything else is asking for leaving a roundabout ar5e first.

I know people who wouldn't mix manufacturers, or models, across axles - because all tyres have different coefficients of grip.

Definitely time to revive this thread, as winter is coming.

Looks like it is going to be hard to get some 19-in Sottozeros for my QPV. Nobody seems to have any winter tyres in stock that are close to what I want.

Nearest I have seen is this at National:
  • Michelin CrossClimate 2 245/45 R19 102Y Fully Fitted £245.99 Per Tyre
  • Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 275/40 R19 105Y Fully Fitted £341.99 Per Tyre
Does anyone have secret stash of SZs?

Been running CrossClimate2's on our E39 for just over a year, very happy with them (admittedly, I don't ask of them what I ask my tyres to do on the QP).

I had Vredesteins on my GS - thought they were excellent.

I had Sottos on my GT, and I have Contis for the Ghibli which I‘ll probably put on in 4 weeks or so.

Couldn’t imagine a winter without them!

So my understanding is that my QPV is supposed to have
- Front: 245/40ZR19 96Y
- Rear: 285/35ZR19 101Y

But 285 seems to be very hard to find. Can I do 275/35 or 275/40 instead? What's the difference? Which would be better? Protyre and National websites suggest 275/40.

I have had a quote for Pirelli SZeros 2x245/40ZR19 and 2x275/40ZR19 for £1,170!!

Can't find anyone nearby (SW Cotswolds) who can quote for the Vredesteins
