Probably missed some out but here goes:-
Austin Metro - I remember the advert on launch, "A British car to Beat the World" err, i don't think so !
Triumph TR7 - My Dad worked at Speke Liverpool plant that produced the TR7. My God, the tales he told about Plant industrial relations. Rusted in front of my very eyes.
Escort XR3i Cabriolet - In white, proper "hairdressers" car
Triumph TR7 Convertible - i must have been a glutton for punishment to come back to the Tr7 fold. Seriously they were and are underrated cars, when they aren't stranded on the hard shoulder
Renault 11 Turbo - Same engine as the Renault 5 Turbo, mega fast
Nissan Silvia Turbo - errrr pop up headlights , that's about all i can remember
Toyota Celica - ditto
Ford Probe 24 V - new company lease car, Mazda in drag
BMW 530
BMW 525
Audi A8 3.0TDI - remapped, incredibly capable car, but no character
Jaguar Xk8 Convertible - barge
Jaguar XKR - bl**dy fast
Maserati Gransport - awesome, go kart compared to GTS
BMW 650 Convertible - worthy but boring
Jaguar XKR 5.0 510 BHP - frighteningly quick, lethal in the wet, great car
Maserati Granturismo S - love it, incredibly sound, looks to die for. But we all know this !

Writing this up was a nice way to bring up some good (and old) memories

Alfa Romeo Alfasud 1.5 Ti - a blast, fondly remembered
Ford Escort Mk1 Estate (2 door, Formula Ford 1600 engine) - also a blast but not for long, blasted it
BMW 520 E12 - crashed between Johannesburg & Pretoria during internship
Peugeot 104 - got it from my gran after she sided it into the armco
Alfa Romeo Alfetta x2 - rust buckets but otherwise great fun
Ford Cortina Mk4 - blew up the engine in France
Austin Allegro - ugliest and worst car ever
BMW 1502 - orange, bought & sold for 100 quid during studies in UK
Mitsubishi Gallant Diesel - first company car, but a diesel???
Rover 620i BRG - second company car after I twisted their arm - first new car :)
Nissan Sentra 200 - pocket rocket after moving to SA
Landrover Defender TDi - for SA to Eritrea overland trip, serious fun
BMW 323i E36 - first new car I bought myself, what a feeling
Rolls Royce 1970 MPW DHC - that's what the Corniche was called pre 1972, full restauration project
BMW 330d E46 - now that's a diesel!
Range Rover 2nd Gen 4.6 Autobiography - always was a dream to own a Range Rover since being a teenager
BMW Z3 M Coupe - last series with the S54 engine, as per signature should never have sold it...
BMW Z4 M Coupe - not quite the replacement I hoped for
BMW 645i Convertible E64 - finally a convertible and yes it's as great as they say!
BMW X5 3.0d E70 - very sensible and a great all-round vehicle, first I bought unseen over the internet
BMW 650i Convertible E64 - replacement, bigger engine, still great
BMW X5 3.0d E70 - replacement, loaded BMW management car
Mercedes A180 W169 - wife's school run car, actually quite cute and good quality
BMW 650i Convertible F12 - replacement, more power, lots of new electronics, just a great car
Maserati QP V Sport GTS - simply beautiful and the best sound ever... adrenaline :))

Being a stats person:

Italian: 4
German: 12
British: 7
Japanese: 2
French: 1

A mate had an Allegro SS.

We always said the SS stood for "Seriously Sh*t!" :rofl5:
Certainly was. The hydroelastic (or whatever it was called) suspension made it feel like a boat and mine was dog sh*t brown. Didn't last long as it was rear ended by a taxi while I was driving to work back in 1986!!

I used to tool around in my Mum and Dad’s classic cars when I was younger and insurance companies were more compliant.

But these are the cars I paid for in chronological order, as far as I can remember:
Mini 1275GT
Austin 1100
MG Midget Mk2
Renault GTA V6 Turbo
Maserati Ghibli SS
Alfa Romeo 164 V6 manual
Venturi Atlantique
Lotus Elan
Alfa Romeo 166 V6 Slushomatic
Alfa Romeo 159 V6 Q4 Sportwagon
Ferrari 456 GTA
Landrover Defender
Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane
Maserati QPV 4.7GTS
Lancia Flaminia PF Coupe

My wife’s selection:
Peugeot 206
Peugeot 106
Fiat 500D
Fiat 500 TwinAir
Alfa Mito TwinAir
Alfa Mito Cloverleaf TwinAir

Great thread...
So mine is very distinctly no exotic more a case of signifies life stages I think
Vauxhall Nova...mum’s car that did way more rallycross that she ever knew about
Vauxhall Astra
Peugeot 306 company car
Audi S2 quattro after taking cash in lieu option of company car and using its huge fuel efficiency of about 12-15mpg in traffic to manage a 115mile commute every day from Haslemere to Heathrow ...made me happy!
Audi A6 avant when sensibility kicked in and son arrived in the scene followed by my daughter.
Skoda Octavia Scout...a ridiculously sweet tfsi engine and go anywhere capability for driving to and from the French Alps for skiing.
Skoda Octavia estate when penny motoring was needed. Silly new car deal which meant no need for any badge snobbery and simple ability to reuse winter tyres and alloys from previous car
VW Touareg R-Line+ after spending too much time in SUVs while working in the US and it has been utterly brilliant with a family of four tall adults. Fantastic fully maintained lease deal for £460p/m including tyres has meant it’s stayed around twice as long as the original lease period. Comfortable, pre-silly fairly light cabins and 60inch full glass displays and without doubt the most comfortable and huggy front seats. The v6 tdi is pretty quick and returns 460miles regardless of how it’s driven. Doesn’t eat tyres, one set of rubber, pads and discs in 40k miles.

I often think about my past loves - each one represents a very specific stage of my life!

Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT, “Luigi” - loved that car (my first car)
Austin Metro, “Dudley” - got me through Uni and travelling to my job at the pub. Treated the rust most weekends!
Renault 19 - served me well as a newly qualified - a solid car - loved having a sunroof
Honda CRX del sol - fabulous car - exciting drive getting to the speed limit
Honda S2000 - so wanted this car but terrifying in the wet. Exhilarating acceleration
Porsche Boxster S (986) - an itch I had to scratch
Porsche Boxster S (987) - what an improvement on the 986 - terrific car
GranSport - so taken with my dad’s 3200GT (“Bindo”) that I had to buy a Trident - what a car! Like all mistresses, she was edgy and expensive to maintain ...
Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Veloce, series 2, “Julie”, still have her and love her forever
GranTurismo - such presence and poise. Beautiful car ...
BMW 520d, “Angelina” - dark days due to health issue - gutted to sell the GT - but what a terrific car!
Ghibli S - back in the (Trident) saddle, where I belong, and think she’s amazing ...

Great. Someone who owns a Ferrari 612, but who doesn't know how to reverse sort a spreadsheet. What have I been doing with my life?
