Not a lot of money? What's his reserve? Rule of thumb, unless you can do the majority of the work yourself you are better off buying a sorted one.

Yes Allan, the trick is not to get sucked into a restoration where your blood, sweat and tears end up making you nothing.

I would say, add £10k minimum for shipping, tax and respray and the engine assembly, add it to the sale price and if that adds up to more that 60% of what the car is worth done, dont bother.

Restoration, no **** sherlock !

Problem with something like this is as well as what you can see you are trusting that all the bits are there. Lovely project but it won't be cheap to restore

To have a full concours level restoration from a specialist firm with proven concours restoration success (so, the likes of Emblem or McGraths) would cost in the region of £150,000. Certainly not below £100,000 and could easily stretch to double that.

I'm currently looking at purchasing a similar condition barn-find Maserati and am discussing its restoration with Emblem. More info to follow as and when appropriate.
